which demonstrates that using the word 'City' is not the issue, if you need to use HULL first...

In sports terms I would still suspect most people associate 'tigers' with Leicester Tigers

& Manchester what do you expect :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Well I think people's memories fade fast, he was a great servent for the club he just looked lazy, and I will always remember that time he nut-megged Frank Lampard. Never really given his chance here and I know he looks a pretty boy but i bet he isnt really gay.
If you are reading this Tom Cairney - some of us remember you fondly.

Get a grip, HT: posting a thread reporting the fact that he came out in favour of the name hardly constitutes a "slur campaign".

I think he played the title roll in the 1960's film "Billy Liar"
How apt that would appear to be, allegedly.
Another one who knows nothing about football.

No, the issue here is that we are nicknamed 'theTigers' and AA is coupling that with Hull. We have been nicknamed 'The Tigers' for years.
AA is not wanting to change the name to just the Tigers, but to Hull Tigers!.....so there should be no confusion there?

You mean like there would be no confusion between Hull City and Manchester City?

I get your point totally, but as AA descibed the 'City' being common as there are a number of teams in England and Wales with City in there title.
there would be only one Hull Tigers in the premiership.... or the Football league.
As I mentioned I did try explaining this to the Mancs I met in Switzerland and it was lost on them.

Fadge - I didn't realise that 1980's schoolyard slang was still in use - an amusing word
