Not sure where else to put this, and apologies if posted before, but as it vaguely links to Lovren being out for Arsenal game (and others), will put it here.

Nice showing from Lovren – shows how much we’ll miss him, as clearly one of top ten CBs in Europe. Only City, United, Arsenal, and Liverpool have any players in the European top tens for each position, so we’re in good company: http://www.football-observatory.com/IMG/pdf/wp57_eng.pdf

Good going from Jay and Adam too, alongside Dejan, in the Premiership slots.

Interesting teaser on the opta twitter right now: "Name the four players to play for both Southampton and Arsenal in the premier league"

The obvious ones (Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain) didn't play for us in the premier league of course...

Indeed they aren't, I don't think I'd have got any of the others.

I was gonna say Perry Groves, but wasn't he before the Premier League?

Stevie Williams? yes, I know he's pre-Premier league, but as he was good enough to play premier league, I think he should count?

This nonsense about Rodriguez needs to be put to bed. You are also wrong about Welbeck.

    Here are the stats:
    http://www.bsports.com/statsinsight...remier-league-liverpool-tottenham-southampton
    http://eplindex.com/48594/southampton-arsenal-preview-team-news-facts-key-men.html

Apparently every time Rodriguez shoots he is supposed to score on here. His clear-cut chance conversion percentage is the highest in the league (85.71%). Lambert is 3rd (71.43%). The average for the league is 37.29%. A shot outside the box is not a clear chance that a player is expected to score. The stats suggest we are not doing a good job at creating clear-cut chances and obviously we rarely score from outside the box or spectacular goals.

Another Rodriguez stat is that he has created four clear-cut chances for his team-mates this season – almost a quarter of our overall total

Just so you know, I don't mean to directly have a go at you. But it saved me time, rather than quoting several posts.

You don't need to defend J-Rod to me, I love the guy.

But stats are just that - stats, and you can bend them anyway way you want. Rodriguez has had a hatful of chances that he has been wasteful with. There were a few on Saturday, and a couple against Sunderland just to name two games as examples. All I'm saying is that he is good already, but if he wants to become great (an England regularfor example) his first time finishing is what he needs to improve to do that. He has had chances inside the box and outside the box which he hasn't put away, which a world class player would have. He still has the potential to be really, really special.

Jesus Christ! What bull****. How can you guarantee the reliability of this first bloody website? For starters, it's American; secondly they use phrases like "big chance". I mean, they seem to think that J-rod has only had 7 or 8 big chances (I guess they mean 'sitters') this season. I've seen him have 3-4 in a single bloody game! Methinks they are basing their evidence on MOTD highlights or something.

Call me 'old school', but I like to trust this pair of bloody eyes that I have in my head, rather than some unreliable swatty American kid who has never attended a game of "soccer" before. And sorry to say, but I am - like many others - of the opinion, that J-Rod's shooting leaves a lot to be desired at times. In fact, your second choice of website alludes to his problem. It states he has a very good shooting accuracy. This is true!! He is definitely not the type to spoon it over the bar. Rather, his main fault is that he all too often hits the ball too soft, like a backpass. So, yes, while this still makes for a fantastic-looking stat (wow, 100% accuracy), it is in fact misleading, as probably about 90% of all stats are.

Sorry for having to argue your point. I think your defending our player is of course very admirable, and I myself don't like to be too critical of players. What's more, I love J-Rod. I'd put him in my first eleven every week. On his day he is a very, very good attacker, and can cause defenders all sorts of problems. But perhaps this is why he causes such frustration to some of us - because if he sorted out his shooting, he could be up there on twenty goals with the likes of Suarez, Aguero etc, and would be a guaranteed England player.

JRod is our best striker. He may not score like a world class striker, but tbh he wouldn't be here if he was a world class striker. He's good and will get better as his confidence increases.

I'd say we have two world-class players; Lovren and Lallana.

I guess by this I mean you could put them in any team in the world, and they would hold their own.
