Potential for a bit of debate...........
The Audi man needs a whack anyway as he is wearing fawn slacks ... All the cyclist needed to do was to light up a ***, take off that stupid helmet and do a few cycle stunts. Both of these people represent everything that is wrong with London's roads. Both should be sent to prison or Hull IMO Anyone noticed that an Audi looks just like a cycle helmet?
Not sure what the deabte would be about Nines? From what i could see. the driver avoided the cyclist and was verbally attacked. To me, he should have burried to cyclist when confronted...unless i nissed something Im not pro or anti bike, but think the car guy was in the right........IMHO
If it's an Audi driver, then he's wrong by default. Being a cyclist AND a driver, I know how easy it is to be really shaken up when a car gets 'too' close, whether or not it's actually dangerous. You don't get anywhere near the feeling of fear when you're safely inside your metal box. Given the differences in protection and the inevitable outcome of any impact, I understand when cyclists get angry (this one was a bit over the top though). If all road users acted like the others on the road have as much right to be there as they do, then this sort of thing wouldn't happen.
I love the way the cyclist catches up to confront the driver, then can't handle what he has started. Who pays road tax? The driver, its his road. (I have cycled a lot in my time, but wouldn't now. Too much traffic, too little discipline and courtesy on both sides and too much anger) Many cyclists don't stick to the rules, especially at lights, and frequently hog the road. I was taught to hug the curb as a youth, and my daughter was taught to ride between the lines where there are double yellows just a couple of years ago. Now she yells at cyclists wandering all over the place, those riding two abreast on country lanes especially) Getting wound up on the road is just as pointless and witless as getting wound up about posts on here. But much more dangerous. Deep breath and count to 10.......
1. The Audi should not have entered the cycle box, that´s an instant fine 2. The cyclist over-reacted a bit, but I was impressed that he caught the car up 3. Fawn slacks a deffo no no especially outside of summer 4. Driver/passenger over-reacted 5. The video cam was probably a Police cyclist who just let the whole thing happen. 6. The real crime was the cyclist at the end who jumped the red light, these are the cyclists that need to be punctured!!! Here in Madrid drivers have absolutely no respect for each other and the standard of driving is very poor, loads of cut-ups, no indicators, generally extremely aggressive driving from both sexes, the machos and the machas, however cyclists are treated with the utmost respect, so much so cars collide with each other to avoid the cyclists!. Let it continue as I cycle home tonight!!!! ps. I have an Audi as well
This gets funnier each time you watch it! Can you imagine pedestrians acting like this? Gonna watch one more time lol
Audi Driver is wrong and I didnt watch the video. The arsehole BMW drivers of a decade ago have all now migrated to Audis.
Why is it always Audi drivers? Sorry Madrid R and other Audi drivers that are normal human beings but driving such a car in the UK at least seems to be like a permit to be a complete tosser on the roads. This guy clearly wasn't happy about cyclists occupying a portion of his road and so nosed his German ****-mobile into the cycle box much the same as he would flash his Rolex in a bar. The cycle boxes are there to prevent the kind of injuries and fatalities at junctions as we have seen so many times recently. Most drivers seem to be oblivious of them but this guy deliberately chose to break the law. The only controversial thing is that there should be any debate about who's in the wrong.
Nothing like a bit of generalising! I migrated from a few BMW's via a Merc to an Audi and I'm a saint of the road!
On the money there exactly ... Said my bit about this a while back ... I target Audi A5 S-Line Coupes exactly for this reason at the traffic lights of Surrey and South London. It's their faces I love as they cannot accept that a 12 year old Saab gives them a sprint learning once in a while it's currently 4-0 and each time I have had them barge next to me. Each and every time they race and catch me and then tailgate me as I revert back to 30mph Agressive Grill and 19 inch wheels does not give you any extra right of way. Exactly right they have taken over from the BMW and the funniest thing is they truly believe that they are now different in some way. I had a S3 in 2006 on lease hire loved it great and brilliant car but once the business zombies latched onto to them it had to go because I was turning exactly the same way before I fully understood what this car and trend was doing to me.
Driver shouldn't have moved into Cyclist box but cyclist was clearly looking for trouble. No excuse for violence but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a little satisfied when Cyclist bully got a smack. If you go around looking for trouble, as sure as night follows day, you'll find it.
You shouldn't enter the cycle box, obviously, though they are ****ing stupid and sometimes difficult to see. You also shouldn't pick a fight with someone and not expect them to have a go back.
