Discussion in 'Newcastle United' started by 5 Goals 1 Hat Trick 11 Heroes-NUFC4LIFE, Jun 15, 2011.

?

Is the Nolan deal good business or madness?

  1. It is a discrace

  2. I'm very disappointed, but worse things could happen

  3. Its seems not bad business, due to Nolan Attributes

  4. Its a good deal!

Nolan plays like hes years older than he is, does absolutely nothing apart from score goals and "leadership/morale boosting" which is completely subjective anyway, for all we know many players may resent how much sway he held...we know NOTHING about the dressing room dynamics apart from heresay.

We already have loads of centre mids and hes leaving for an alright price to a team we are not even going to be competing with...

Im not glad hes gone, im just not really fussed. We have better players in that position and even the crappy danny guthrie probably has more overall contribution in matches, with two good strikers and ben arfa back in the team his goals wont matter.

The only player worse than nolan in the centre mid position at the club is alan smith. Gosling is young and at least has the stamina to finish a game, caybe is class stop saying he is unproven etc etc, ben arfa was "unproven" and did amazing before a horrific accident, tiote was "unproven" and has been immense, hernandez was "unproven" last season. ITS A GAME OF FOOTBALL, if players dont addapt its due to SOCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES, sure the EPL is different but its still football, the cream will rise to the top no matter what cow the milk is from.

Anyways sorry for ranting, some of you just infuriate me with how thick you are, you are the sort of people than think Scott Parker is a class player and that we somehow now "need" the magestic presence of craig gardner.

I do dispair, all we should be buying is two solid strikers, trying are hardest to flog smith, perch etc and perhaps bring in a new quality left back if enrique leaves and maybe one class young attacking midfielder.

Thats all we need, we have a great youth system.

True words! Reppd. Nolan = Influence, team spirit, leadership & goals but a very limited & average CM in general IMO. Cabaye TWICE the player Nolan will ever be.

I think he does like a challenge. He dug in when we were in a crisis and now he's gone to West Ham who are in a crisis. Although a 5 year deal may have something to do with it.

If this is true then where the hell are West Ham getting is money from?! Surely it makes sense to offload your highest wages earners not buy 29yo for £5mil and pay him 55k a week <doh>

I'm upset because I think it may have opened the floodgates and there'll be more players leaving.

The fact is Cabaye IS unproven in the PL. You can't say if a player doesn't settle here it's because he's not 'the cream', what about Forlan? He was absolute ****e for United and he's one of the most highly regarded strikers in the world.

Why are people saying Cabaye is a better player than Nolan? <doh>

Hardly anyone here has seen him play and for all we know Cabaye could flop in this league!

Shows A lack of ambition to me... Cash aside he could have walked into quite a few prem teams...
I agree with quite a few of you in that maybe he knows he's only got a couple of good years left and simply went fir one last payday...

Forlan was ****e for united because he was placed under alot of pressure, at a bigger club, and his contribution as a striker was focused on goals rather than his all around play which wasnt that bad, moreover it took him a while to get to the level he is now, hes only been class for about 3 seasons.

I actually have. OK I know 5 Lille games aren't much, but I saw enough in Cabaye that IF HE CAN ADJUST TO THE PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE PL.. then he'll be the bargain signing of the season sir! Tiote-esque box-to-box technical maestro! Absolute cracker of a signing.

So even if he gets knocked out of team by Guthrie and scored 2 goals all season, He will have done better than Nolan
