How many were there? More importantly, how bad was the pitch at the end? With all the rain, two games in 6 days will be too much for that pitch on a regular basis! It should stop Spurs' flowing game but it will also stop us at our best game...

First I knew there was a game on was when I heard a loud cheers come from the KC.

    Who was playing?

I'm guessing it was Hull v Rovers?

    Hull FC 20 - 12 Hull KR

    Less than 10,000 in attendance.

    I went.

I enjoy watching the Rugby League during the close season.

The home crowd was pretty poor. Rovers had a decent number there.

The pitch wasn't too bad. It was hardly as bad as Southend was. Don't like excuses being made already.

That's less than half who went to our friendly against a team from over 100 miles away. It's massive in Hull is rugby league.

Cue comments about the weather putting people off, but what's that line in Old Faithful again?

Or 2,000 more than the attendance for club legend Andy Dawsons testimonial, depends how you want to look it.

I wouldn't brag about the Liverpool friendly attendance either, its sad that the attendance for that was three times higher than either Deano or Dawson's testimonial games, it would suggest most people we're there just to watch Liverpool.

Apart from when the plastics turned out in force to watch Liverpool, when was the last time we got 10,000 to a friendly? We don't even get that for most cup games.

Erm, yes but that means that football is clearly really popular in Hull. It doesnt matter who they were there to watch. Comparable would be a Hull FC friendly vs Leeds Rhinos, would they get over 20k for that?

I'm sorry, but isn't the Hull derby meant to be this fantastic thing that always gets massive attendances no matter what?

Also, surely that also shows football is still way more popular?

In what way is that comparable.

I'm not for a second suggesting football isn't popular in Hull or that rugby is better supported...etc, that just isn't true. I just think slagging off a 10k crowd for a pre-season friendly when football has only bettered that once in recent memory is at best pointless and petty.

The situation is not helped by Radio Humberside running a trailer all week declaring this as 'the biggest sporting event in the city' and the 'biggest grudge match in world rugby league'.

Gwilym Lloyd really is a clown.

The vast majority of rugby fans share your opinion there.

Why are they called. Hull Fc when Hull FC closed down and became extinct.

Hull FC are really Gateshead in disguise.

Hull Kingston Rovers are the only rugby team from Hull.

I bet if we played Ferriby at the KC we'd get 10,000 for a friendly and they've never been a league side. Says it all.

Cos Leeds Rhinos are a massively successful team on the national and international club level, just like Liverpool are. Glad to help you out with this.
