The age old question. Me, I'd go for the cup, we haven't won that and we won't win the league, so balls out for a trophy's my vote.
I say stick with a similar side for Brighton, (if we) win that, see who we get and then consider having a real go.
By our standards and history this is a cup run. A good test of our squad to do both, are the semi's still at Wembley?
With a bit of luck in the next round, we could get to the semis without having played a Premier League club.
Yep play same squad at Brighton and then go all out for a place in the Semis. If we lose to Brighton we lose to Brighton.
No fan wants to reach the end of their life and say, "I saw us finish just above the relegation zone in the Premier League for a few years". They want to be able to say, "I saw us win football's most historic and prestigious cup competition"
I would prefer to focus on league position, but considering this is the best chance in god knows how long I would also love us to go for it in the cup. Though protecting our EPL status would be better.
Personally, focusing on our league position now could lead to consistent cup runs like this in the future. That doesn't mean we shouldn't continue to try in the cup, we can do both.
Semi Finals should never have been moved to Wembley. The FA don't give a dam about tradition. Would be Brilliant to get to the FA Cup Final as I missed our play off Final. I have a feeling we might just get to the final . Maybe.
How many other teams still in it, or other Prem teams, have a 100% record at Wembley and have never conceeded a goal there? The FA Cup, our last taboo.
this cup runs reminds me of our first season in the premier league. whats the betting we get arsenal in the QF
We can't qualify for Europe because we breached financial fair play rules, but it'd be nice to have trophy in the cabinet. Don't see why we can't settle for both!
Hia, Filey; is that really you criticising the FA for not caring about tradition? EDIT: I agree with you though
League. FA Cup now behind Play-Off Final in terms of significance (IMO) Only way to rejuvenate competition would be to award winners priority over 4th league position for Champions League qualification (assuming winner not also in top 3)
Which is perfect because playing in Europa next season would almost be a penalty. Newcastle, Swansea and Stoke have all really struggled with it.
How much can we change the team for the better - aren't we a tad plagued by being cup-tied in our game-changers?
The only semis at Wembley should be Arsenal v another London team. The FA should be using Villa Park, Emirates, Old Trafford, St James', Stadium of ****e, St Marys, Anfield etc for semis.
I agree, we don't have a strong enough squad to play in Europe. Only the top teams have enough strength in depth to have a Euro push.
