Am starting to believe that we won't actually buy anyone this season having previously discounted this though given it was fookin' ridiculous that we wouldn't. I don't mean buy a kid who may/may not work out in a couple of years, I mean a player that will fit into our first team.....now!

But if you listen to and you look at BR's body language....it sounds as though nothing is on. <yikes> I know that he can't give anything away and I hope I'm very wrong but it's getting a bit late now...very late! One signing will be poor...none....

I'll hold my breath just a few days more but if we let this window slip by without strengthening in areas needed, I may just explode with the ineptness of it all......<grr>

    tick, tick, tick......

Well here's a fu cking thought, it's crazy, but hear me out. Maybe the players should prioritize playing football above money. The attitude some players have with money is something I will never grasp. Once you're earning 50,000 a week, you've made it and you have enough money to do anything. I really wouldn't be bothered if I was offered 100,000 a week or 120,000 a week. Both figures are astronomical and both are more than enough. If the person offering 100,000 a week offers first team football it's an easy decision.

  5. If I could be arsed, I'd quote myself from the start of the window :p

  6. Its in no way the players fault. Anyone with an ounce of ambition would move to as big a club as they can, the fact they manage to negotiate what we consider to be ludicrous amounts of money in wages is irrelevant for this debate.

Its a bit like folk that moan about people on benefits; I don't blame those individuals as they are taking advantage of the situation our government as created. Players are doing the same thing with football clubs. That's not to say I like it (either situation)

We've really got to stop putting all our eggs in one basket in terms of transfers. Last couple of transfer windows we've identified our main targets and then almost said thats it, thats who we want and who we'll buy.
Then another club gets wind of it and usurps us with a better off, wages or fee. After that we take weeks looking for someone else instead and the process happens all over again.

A few tweeks to our transfer policy. 1: Keep quiet and don't identify targets. 2: Be quicker to reach fees and wages, haggling will save money but wont buy players. 3: Have more than one target in mind, so if one falls through we have another target ready to go.

look slaah was never a player we wanted right? As in we the fans not we the club... i didn't hear it before but the thought that this kid refused point blank to shake the hands of jewish players in the CL by "tieing showlaces" or "bumping knuckes" at best.. then add the fact he'll be off on african nations duty...

I don't want him at all.

he's going to cheslea to compete with hazard, oasca and willian for a place so in other words at best will play a couple of league matches with others rested for CL etc... at best... He'll be the forgotten man i n2 years IMO.

the next soloman Kalou? yeah thats about it.

the thing is though its not 100k v 120k... its 50k v 100-120k AND its i can sit on this bench and pick up gongs... its an easy choice for players to make.

The only thing that can be resolved by Uefa here is banning of loans over the age of 23 or so and give the laoning clu a maximum global figure they can loan out (say 5) why should barry be allowed to go on loan.. no benefit to anyone bar everton. city should have had to sell and frnakly everton oculd have bought and would do so this summer.

Lukaku i've no issue with.. young players developing should be what loans are about.

moses by extension si fine too... but chelsea have another squad out there across europe.

RIght now.... LFC need to focus on getting their man. there is zero point going to clubs with a begging cup and bidding a low value you feel verses a clubs high value. Find the guy you want to pay for and pay. if a club is asking double their worth say so, move on.

rodgers even stupidly said the salah one wasn't done for chavski... like he still had hope the player might.... thats lunacy...

find the target, move on the target. sitting talking with agents for weeks on a fee while said agent offers is player out to others to gazump you by using your name? not for me.

Thing is, the agents play the game too. Salah's agent has probably been in contact with the Chav's since day one. It's not as though he's not been on their radar is it? So it's all very well trying to tie a deal down quickly but an agent's job is to create demand, as is the players club.....hence the ridiculous situation where everything happens in the last week. I hate it but I accept that if we don't get CL, we are at a massive disadvantage....so we have to gamble; compete financially for key players......the right players. I like a few on here wasn't sure on Salah but he for sure wasn't what we need right now.

We are making some very big assumptions that the lack of success is due to our negotiating technique and the lack of ability of our negotiators. However, none of us are privy to exactly who these people are and what techniques they are employing.

Apart from Willian where we pulled out when the price went too high, we only have media comment about who we may have approached or who is on our radar to work with. Unless a club wants to sell we can stand outside and sing 'Dixie' but it wont make a blind bit of difference. If they want far more than we are prepared to pay its useless us fans moaning its down to our executives!

And if several other clubs value the player higher? If we're the only club consistently valuing players (purchase price and wages) well below market price, who do we moan at? Fact is that we know that we cannot get top 4 without (a) large investment and (b) a degree of risk. We definitely will NOT get top four with neither.

well yes... play safe and accept 6th. pay 20-50k per week.. cos you are in 6th.

but... tottenham bought hugely this summer and while its flat spend due to bale there is zero way the wages are flat and at least half those bought must be on 100k per week. thats the risk.

the choices.... pay over the odds in wages and hope players plump for us .. OR pay over the odds to close deals quickly. neither is ideal.

You have to find the guy and move in... all we know is salah was linked to us for 3 months prior to january... so if we were in and still took over half the window before chelsea came in before bidding.. one must wonder whats the true story.

    I don't know.

We either are actively looking or actively offering or nothing. Nobody knows.

I am quite ok on mkhitaryan, costa, willian and even salh really cos if we offered and they've gone elsewhere... their choice. but eventually we need to know the truth, were we turned down right off cos the wages were 50% of what the palyer would tolerate and we ended up being strung along... we just don't know.

The above list is longer though. Spurs spent the last two years gazumping us! There's definitely a trend. Agents play the field, it's not all of our fault.....fact remains if we really want top for, we'll have to take a gamble over and above those of Ilori, Aspas, Alberto.....in fact, right now, I'd swap all 3 for one decent midfielder!

Seems like the worlds dullest game. But he looks very comfortable moving the ball around in the DM position and goes on a bursting run at one point.

Playing number 8 role here. Looks quick, skillful and lively.
