I don't think that would happen. Would be bad business as prices go silly in world cup summers.

Well I agree, but the problem now is that Montpellier know we're going to sell Cabaye (either now or in the summer) and for roughly how much, so why should they settle at something they deem derisory?

And with just five days left, and a couple of games to prepare for, I'd be very surprised if we got the Cabella deal done quickly and then sold Cabaye within this time.

this is what worries me....although anita can play there ...as can marveaux as he proved last year and i think he deserves another crack at the whip ....also dont know if people are keeping up but abied on loan at panathniocos is making quite a name for himself got man of the match several times as well as the leagues most valuable player awrd...

I personally think he'll be worth more after the World Cup. I know it's a risk, but its a risk where we get him playing for us in the meantime. Plus, if he sees us bringing the right people in maybe he'd even fancy staying??

This is very true. Getting Cabella in now and then selling Cabaye for more after the World Cup seems sensible to me, but it doesn't look like we're going to wait.

When do we do the sensible thing?

To be fair, we haven't always liked what's been done recently, but apart from not investing at the start of the Europa season the club has been doing more or less the sensible thing for quite a while now when it comes to transfers. Let's hope it continues!

I expected Cabaye to go but if they are starting the bidding at 14m then maybe not.

We are going to struggle to sign anyone at present from what I can see. Everyone knows we are waiting to cash in our 20m chip, so all the prices are going up if we are involved. I'm not convinced we are against signing players as some think we are. However I do think we'll only do it when we are getting a bargain. I can't see much value in this window if you are looking at our supposed targets. Cabella, De Jong are way overpriced by their clubs. If 14m is the price for Cabella and Borussia want the reported 12m for De Jong I can understand the reluctance.

We are tight as a fishes arse. I wouldn't be overly surprised if Cabaye went and we signed no one. Of course that would be disappointing but I kinda accept where we are as a club. We are not going to gamble money wise to push for a top 6 place. I think top 10 would please the board and we'll probably achieve that with or without Cabaye. Yeah its unambitious and disappointing from a supporters perspective but I can see the conservative business angle.

We need to base our valuation on the fact Fellaini cost 27m. Based on that Cabaye goes for no less than 30m.

I agree to an extent, tho I expect Fellaini will turn out to be Man Utd's version of Andy Carroll Purchase.

We all know Cabaye will go and the line will be that we did not have time to get deals over the line if this happens I am seriously going to have to consider the rationale of renewing. I really have had enough of this ****e now the lack of ambition is truly demoralising and we just know that there really was no intention in the 1st place of signing anybody it's all bollox

If we sell Cisse God help us if Remy gets injured because a certain embarassment will be our first choice striker! It freezes the blood, it really does.

Not really fair to call Gouffran an 'embarrassment', I think he's shown he's a canny player so far this season. Sure, he's no Shola but he's decent.

Vuckic will be coming back next month so in an emergency he is our cover up front, needs more of a chance to show what he can do.
