Well you've said "I think Fryatt did a cross like that" which leads me to believe that you yourself don't know if he did or not
Anyone with a half decent memory know if he did or not? I think if Fryatt were to run down the wing and set up a chance like that it'd be headline material. Surprised you can't remember it.
He had a career that involved about £25m worth in transfer fees. Let it go Chazz. He might not be a fashionable forward. But he was a damn effective one.
Crouch probs has a 50 million its no judge. BCC says he was not appreciated, I say he played at a time of no English forwards, same with Crouch.
Wait... no English forwards? Didn't he play when Owen, Fowler, Shearer, Beattie, Rooney were banging them in?
Well, if you discount Beattie (for obvious reasons) and look at the pre-Rooney days, Fowler was past his best (despite not being old), so that leaves just Owen and Shearer. And even Shearer wasn't his 1995 self by 2001.
Crouch has £46m. But alas, they're incomparable as their transffers came at different times. Liverpool broke their transfer record to sign him. Heskey was a very good player. Only someone who either hadn't seen him or thinks that because he didn't score a lot would say otherwise
Chazz ... why does every player move on? ... but let's turn it around ... if he was THAT BAD why did Liverpool pay a then club record fee for him of £11 million ... because they hadn't scouted him properly no doubt
What about Kevin Phillips? he was the PL leading scorer in 99/00, yet Heskey was still being picked ahead of him.
Arent you just proving my point!! Shearer chucked England in 2000. Fowler washed up by 2002. Beattie ****ing hell shall we include ***an. 1998 WC forwards. Shearer Owen Sheringham Ferdinand. Does he oust any of them?? No does he ****. In an era of piss poor forwards he was it for awhile.
Does that mean Gerrard, Maldini, Baresi, Finney, Armfield, Bergomi, Camacho, Brooking, Scholes, Giggs, Le Tiss, Lofthouse, Xavi, Yashin, and Totti were all worse players than, ooh, let's say Jason Beckford?
Ignoring the fact he scored 67 goals across 4 seasons across the early 00s.... I know he wasn't to everyone's liking (including mine) but he still ****ing scored goals...
I'm a massive admirer of Kevin Phillips - but a partnership between him and Michael Owen? I don't see it. Owen needed a complement, not a mirror image of himself.
Obviously not. But I imagine you wouldn't be quick to part with 25m for a **** footballer over his career?
Signed at 22 for a big fee by a big four team, didnt live up to his potential when he should have been coming into his prime. Come on its not difficult. He just wasnt that good.
And a complement he got. Owen has gone on record of saying that his partnership with Heskey was his favourite.
