Strong personalities with very bad timing. An article in the express , if believed, fills in all the pieces of whats been going on .Laudrup wanted to use his own agent for transfers, Jenkins nixed it and went all in at the time ready to waiver the 10million it would take to buy Laudrup for any team that would take him , strong and harsh . We all remember the agent's exit. Now it seems to be round 2 . Jenkins is keen to bring in Ince and Laudrup doesn't see him in his team plans. Seems this event has burnt bridges between them to the point , regardless of the rest of the season, Laudrup's gone without a choice at seasons end, if not sooner. Also , away from this article , when Bony was having a rough start , Jenkins was quick to go to the media with his distaste for spending 12 million on a player , that must have made Michael feel like a million. Buy the way Huw , 12 million was a bargain. Big Premier league games coming , 5th round of the FA Cup ahead of us and A big European club ready to come to Liberty, and these two are locking horns behind the scene . If this is all true , and I believe it is , I'd like to crack there heads together I would rather be putting up an article reading " Jenkins and Laudrup " , But I don't see that happening , neither are right and both share blame .Not saying this all true , just that I think it is. Bury the hachet guys , this is all to important to a lot of people .
There seem to be many issues with the chairman and manager, Swansea is a club run by local buisness men who IMO are struggling to cope with being a premier league board. The ego]s and top level finance involved are a million miles away from where they started . There were similar problems dealing with Sousa, it seems that Huw has a problem dealing with strong minded people, if you look at the charector of Martinez and Brenden compared to Laudrup and Sousa there is a massive difference . Martines and Brenden were nothing as footballers while the opposite is true of the Laudrup and sousa, to make it at that level as a top player would require alot of mental strength and faith in their own ability, they would be ultra professional as people and would strive for the best and to be the best at what they do . The likes of Bobby and Brenda were masters of telling people what they wanted to hear intead of what they wanted to know! laudrup and sousa dont by into bullshit,so will tell it like it is rather than window dress a certain situation . Bobby and brenden are politicians and brown nosing the board and supporters is how they were able to build up trust , the bigger people like Laudrup have seen it and done it on so many levels and only need to say what they think , Huw gets on better with people that like to kiss his ass and tell him he is doing great, while the likes of Laudrup are just honest and his agent Tutu is ruthlessly honest !! The problem lies with the small time mentality at the higher levels of the club,it holds us back a little bit if truth be told
Regarding the story, it just looks like a re hash of old news with no recent input , Laudrup not wanting Tom ince ? with the amount of clubs interested in him he isnt going to take the lowest wage on offer to join a team 3 pts off relegation is he ?? As soon as the bigger teams get involved we are out of the running and thats a fact .
Would tend to agree with a lot of that, although Sousa and Laudrup do deserve some share of the blame because both knew how the club works before taking the job. No sense getting crabby about it after the fact. I do have some sympathy for them however because looking at the list of names being put forward of potential targets then it's clear that the clubs sights are being set far too low. I know we have an expansion to pay for, but there must be better players available within our budget than a Bolton reserve. I don't blame Laudrup for wanting to source his own players via Tutumlu when that's the kind of fare on offer.
Norway - I hear your point. Bobby and Brenda are politicians, but we also arguably had the most success with them at the helm. I'm sure Laudrup will go at the end of the season. Someone will buy him. I won't be too upset, our results, and style of play for the best part of year have been pretty poor. We've picked up some fantastic results along the way, but overall, some of the football we have played hasn't been great. We may lose Michu and De Guzman if he goes.
I think a lot of people will want to bury their head in the sand on this article but I think someone close to the situation spilled the beans . Hope I'm wrong , fear I'm right
I can't agree we had the most success with either of them , a large part of what we've achieved but not the majority. The manager will go as do players but the club remains the reason why we're here .Too many variables this season have cost us further progression but a good run in the cups, a stronger more talented squad of players and PL safety after what has been a turbulent season would equate to a successful season imo
Fair point but maybe the politicians spin has won out ? Brenden didnt win a trophy or finish higher than Laudrup Martinez didnt finish higher than sousa, who had 40 goals taken out of him by bobby when he took scotland and gomez with him to wigan. While we beleive that brenden and bobby were great the facts are maybe opposite, now what you need to ask yourself is how good would sousa have been if he was given the correct funds to buy a striker that he wanted ? he was given beatie and trundle and had to ask others if they had heard of them !! what if Jenkins swallowed his own ego and served Sousa like he did brenden ? Same with Laudrup ,by all accounts the club were happy for Tutu to shop around on our behalf ,look at the player he brought in ? Michu, chico,DG,canas, pablo for peanuts right ? Huw didnt like it when Tutu started moving and shaking at the higher financial end, offering Ash for £10m to apparently fund other deals etc,etc . huw put the breaks on and they had a big falling out, tutu was good enough to bring us players like Michu and chico free of charge but huw didnt like it when he strted really pushing the club out of its comfort zone, what would have happened if huw backed Laudrup to hilt ? I dont blame the board though, they are scarred from the dark days but it does effect how they think in terms of the future
I wonder how much more success, not saying they weren't successful, Martinez or Rodgers might have had if given the finance Laudrup was afforded? Just saying , they got some bang for the buck and if not for their hardwork the money that Laudrup got to spend might not be available
I don't think Bobby and Brendan were sucking up to Huw. It's good to get on with your boss, so why would you be too honest with them. Some things need saying, but sometimes you just need to keep your mouth shut. It makes for a better work environment. With all this going on I'm not surprised we had the brick incident, as this must be affecting all the players. Funny that Huw was willing to waive the £10 million compensation, but still no clubs came in for Laudrup. I think he's overrated as a manager based on his footballing past. Time to go. But Huw also need to take some of the blame. he's always tight with the money, as shown by us going after two Championship players. He must really not get on with Laudrup to waive £10 million. This is a mega split. We need to get rid of Laudrup and get a new manager in ASAP for the sake of the club. The club is way more important than Laudrup.
Even funnier s that Huw was prepared to kiss the £10m goodbye and Laudrup said that both PSG and Chelsea wanted him but Laudrup had told his players he was going to stay . Its not about nobody wanting him its about Laudrup keeping his word to the players he signed, Laudrup puts alot on his word, more than any other by the looks of it
I think he's showing that at Everton this season. I must admit, it shocked me how quickly he has turned Everton around, although there is no doubting his managerial quality and brand of football. It's just a shame we didn't have him in charge of this type of calibre of a squad as compared to when he was managing us.
Yes , good points by norway and valley Got a feeling this " exclusive " might be compliments of Laudrup's agent , off the record sort of speak
I think even Martinez would struggle with what we have dealt with this season. Martinez has had it rather lucky with Everton, he took over a good squad, that is not tied down with other competitions like us and the Europa, has not had the backlash of the injury crisis we are dealing with, not to mention that he got it quite lucky that they got rid of Fallaini, never liked him, always thought he held Everton back. So its no surprise he is doing well, but to say he may have done better with our squad than Laudrup is a bit naive to say the least. Just look at what Martinez done at Wigan, yes, nothing. Yet he had the likes of Moses, Rodellega, they were no slouches. Yet ML took over BR's squad, which other than being able to pass teams to death, had to take us into the second season, which most write off as the hardest, and provided a higher finish. BR may have got us relegated in our second season, we don't know, but we certainly would not have the likes of Michu, Pablo, Canas, Chico, JDG and Bony if it were not for the man in charge right now. And if he hadn't been in charge, who knows, we may have been in the championship this season. So rather than think of what if, just be greatful for what we have. And that article is crap anyway. Just rehashed **** from the start of the season, that claimed ML and HJ were at loggerheads, yet it turned out it was Tutu and HJ, not ML. Funny that aint it. Yet we now seem to believe this **** all of a sudden.
