I'd be more concerned if it were Chelsea. But even saying that, Jose does not buy promising 18 year olds & play them, he loans them out, & that most certainly is not what Luke is looking for, this season or next. Luke deserves to have his name banded around, he has done well, but I do not fear him leaving us in this window, & that is not something that I'd always be comfortable saying.

I really don't see why people are worried.

None if our top stars were ever going to leave...

It's pure speculation from the media, nothing more.

West Ham sign Boriello from Roma. Looks like they've moved on from Lambert.

Yes, one would assume that that is the end of that (assuming there was even a start of it).

If we were to loan out Osvaldo. Jovetic from City barely plays and could do with game time and I'm sure City will pay a fair share of his wages. Just a thought but rated him highly from his time in Serie A.

The minimum that KL could offer Mauricio to convince him of her good intentions was an assurance that he would not lose his players...she said no one was leaving and MP reiterated it (though I think there was an under the breath weasel phrase about 'unless they want to'...hard to tell when it went through translation). Luke was scurrying around in an FA Cup match against lower opposition yesterday...not something you do if awaiting a massive move with a 1 week deadline.

We're struggling to fill this Transfer rumours thread so imagine how those poor newspaper editors are feeling? Luke certainly didn't put in a £30m performance yesterday.

why does the article refer to Liebherr as a "reluctant owner".... Where do they get this from ???

Press are hell bent on us imploding and doing a portsmouth.... must be killing them the fact we seem to have steadied the ship.

    http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/...-able-to-get-some-joy-from-osvaldo-saga-by-ge

Inter Milan have been repeatedly linked with Southampton misfit Pablo Osvaldo, but they can't afford him. Their new owner Erick Thohir has said that Inter are entering a time of austerity and must cut their cloth accordingly, meaning they'd have to sell first before they could buy the forward. Unless Southampton want Fredy Guarin, offered to anyone who'll listen during this window, then Inter Milan looks out of the question for Osvaldo until they manage to sell.

Guarin had been set for a swap involving Mirko Vucinic from Juventus. That was almost completed, players had medicals and the deal was about to be announced but then Inter Milan's Curva Nord supporters threatened to riot because they didn't think their club was getting the best side of the deal. The potential transfer was called off and whilst Inter still try to sell Guarin, Juventus are left with an awkward situation surrounding Vucinic.

He wanted to leave the club, said goodbye to his team mates and passed a medical, it's hard for him to return. He missed training on Thursday and Friday, with permission, and wasn't involved for Juventus yesterday against Lazio.

Sunday's Tuttosport say that Juventus are looking at Osvaldo for a replacement should Vucinic leave but with Southampton themselves having to replace the punch-happy Argentine if they sell him, then there could be another swap on the cards.

We'll just have Vucinic in a swap deal then. Simplifies the situation handily.:1980_boogie_down:

The only thing to consider with the Shaw rumours is if MP decides that £30m is a good deal for the club (it is, by the way) then he could tell KL to accept it and reinvest the money in a couple of players. Unlikely, sure (Shaw?), but not impossible as what she was really saying was that any sales would be up to him.

The money would be no compensation for losing Shaw now...we would have no time to spend it. The summer would be a different matter...though I hope for both Shaw and Saints that we keep him at least for another season.
