Discussion in 'Newcastle United' started by 5 Goals 1 Hat Trick 11 Heroes-NUFC4LIFE, Jun 15, 2011.

?

Is the Nolan deal good business or madness?

  1. It is a discrace

  2. I'm very disappointed, but worse things could happen

  3. Its seems not bad business, due to Nolan Attributes

  4. Its a good deal!

    ..
    hmm
The quotes say "Agreed a price for his services" - doesn't actually say 'transfer'
Is there a subtle difference? Perhaps another way of saying 'loan' ?
    I don't know....

Have to say he's a 'strong' player so I'm surprised they're letting him go..

Maybe he's just putting up some Hammers players in his B&B, Carroll style?

We'd probably be in League One without their "influence" over the last two years. <ok>

We'd finally get to exact revenge on Leyton Orient if we were.

Always looking for the positives ;)

I mean in the dressing room not on the pitch and barton barely played in the champo. I think weve given them too much power. MA is sensible not offering them longer deals than 2 years.

Without their influence in the dressing room and on the pitch, we'd be in League One. When everyone else was skulking around, feeling sorry for themselves and looking for a way out of the club, they (and a few others who won't be here next season) shouldered the responsibility.

Nolan and barton didnt singled handedly do anything. I dont think we know what goes on in the dressing room i know joey barton didnt play much in the champo and didnt contribute and at the start of this season 99 percent of him wanted him to leave, your assuming hewas a positive influence when we were in the championship. Nolan has done well im not knocking him but he knows he wasnt making the first team this year. We will be fine without either of them infact we would be better. Off without joey he had a chance to captain us against villa and was disgracefull he dived and constantly moaned and his head was down all game, he brought out the best in carrol and has done well but 1 good season after years of standing by him while he was awful and he thinks hes top man all of a sudden.

Jonas, Barton, Tiote, Cabaye, Ben Arfa. That's 5 players before we've even bought anyone (admittedly Joey will probably go) that would probably start in midfield over Nolan.

I doubt as captain he would of been content on the bench, and he's certainly not an impact player. Would we really have needed him? I though Nolans form dropped second half of the season (i.e. once Carroll left, I wonder how many Nolan goals were assisted by Carroll? Probably has a lot to do with it) and who's to say he'd have got it back, hes 28, runs like he's 35 and isn't getting any younger.

I think ashley is fair enough in not wanting to pay 40k / week for a cheerleader... especially since we already have one (Smith).

Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking Nolan, he saved our club in the ccc (with Smith, not Joey, Barts done nothing last year) but we had to move on from him eventually.

P.S. Someone tell Barton to shut up.

Just a quick point, a lot of people keep saying how are we going to replace Nolans goals?
    The answer is Ben Arfa?
Next season he will play behind a striker and should be banging goals in

    New striker
    Ben Arfa
    Jonas Tiote Cabaye Barton

If Barton goes replace him with Gardener, if Jonas goes replace him Barnetta.

    Jonas - Hatem Ben Arfa - N'Zog/Barnetta?

    Tiote - Cabaye

So in short... No I wouldn't have.
