Oh! I was looking forward to it, so it's not good then? Just watched Blackfish which was good, the Dolphin one a while back was more shocking though.
Ok gonna watch Last King of Scotland instead as I really want to watch something good and it's one I've missed, would like a bit of a review on American Hustle?
LKOS is brill, better choice than Hustle if you actually want an enjoyable evening. I found Hustle very dull, the pace is too slow, the structure isn't tight enough and the performances, which take precedence over actual action or plot, not great. Louis CK is in it though, he's good. No, you should watch it though if you're into films.
I will watch it but I wanted a good one tonight so will go with my second choice even though I miss out on Amy Adams. please log in to view this image
Loved American Hustle me Bale as a classic New York dodgy jewish shyster was brilliant and his relationships with Sydney and his wife are quality entertainment Slightly predictable ending but nevertheless well worth a watch.
Started watching a TV show called Girls, thought it would be a bit like Friends and something to watch with the wife but it's actually very funny and nothing like Friends. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1723816/
Girls is ok yeah, pretty much all the characters are unlikeable in some way which is part of the point of the show I think. Saw Inside Llewyn Davis last night. Terrific film, the main character is a bit of a prick sure but it's a very sad and lonely film. Sort of absurd too, he says that he sees the music he plays as a business/work which implies he has no passion for it yet he continues to pursue it despite it bringing him no financial reward and the Greenwich scene rapidly moving on from his style - see Dylan coming on stage right at the end. A terrible irony. It also continues the Coen's obsession with Ulysses/Odysseus (see O Brother) and the idea of drifting through the world. Loved the cyclical structure and the cat/cats of course!
That's what I meant in my review further up the page. (looks like we agree on this one) The Greenwich Village folk music scene was terrible until Dylan came along and instead of singing about complete nonsense and trying to be cool he poured his heart out and gave folk music life. John Goodman had me laughing.
Getting through an old and much loved TV series at the moment - I, Claudius. It's reminding me of studying ancient history (the Augustan period) :'(
Watched Human Centipede I+II yesterday. Not as bad as I'd thought they would be. The first one is easily the better film. The second one is quite nihilistic, but I didn't think it merited being banned. Any good horrors people would recommend? I'm on a horror/cartoon kick at the moment.
Awesome films, haha. The Conjuring is one of the best horror films I've seen in a long while. You're Next is also pretty good but not on the same level, more formulaic, quite a good twist that you might see coming, worth a look.
I've started watching a series called 'Helix'. It's another viral outbreak job, but quite gory for a TV series. Anyone else seen it?
Just started watching Buffy again ..... Is wrong to still list a teenager when you're old enough to be her dad?
