An excellent summary Pol. Well said. I feel a lot happier about Brady too, was worried he'd be suffering from not wanting to get stuck in after his injury but he looked keen as mustard.
1 in the PL 2 in the FA Cup 4 in the Championship By far the scorer of most goals of any of out players in first team football this season. The levels are different, yes, but agree that he is a useful back up striker to have and makes Danny Graham superfluous to requirement. Start with Long / Jelavic though.
Fryatt is untested at this level due to an injury that is notoriously difficult to come back from. Yet he has got his head down and come back looking like he might do a job for us. If so will keep other strikers on their toes too. Aluko has achillies problems and wouldnt be surprised if his goes again. Just need an injury for Long or Jelly and with Graham gone we look very light again upfront. Sure SB will make the right call. Given the magic he has worked with Macca I trust his judgment.
patty .. he is a proven championship player before us and with us and I think he has that poacher instinct to do it in th prem.. perfect backup .. like defoe was
I liked the way Matty stole the ball off Graham to go on and score almost a la Cloughie. He can score goals at championship level but I dont think he is the answer at premier league level. However neither is Graham or Sagbo going by this season so far. If he had started as many games as Graham I reckon he would have had 2 goals at least. Still not enough for our level? Scoring golas is a confidence thing and who knows if given a run he might grab a couple of goals against weaker teams who arent far off champs level.
I can think of back-up strikers in the PL that are no better than Matty Fryatt, and I think he solved a squad issue for us today. Just hope he's gonna be happy with being a back-up, that's all.
In a side which lacked a creative spark that season, 16 goals is a decent return in anyone's book. He'd be useful as a sub for the last 20 mins in a PL match but I'm sure most teams in the Championship would be delighted to have him.
