I took advice from a few on here and have submitted a new design for the QPR Badge to the club last week and they have have got it so when the process is started my name is in the hat. Have a look i have posted it for a limited time directly on my site (just now so it may take a time to populate fully) PaulFroud(DT) http://www.paulfroud.com
No problems re any comment lads ... It has to be timeless IMO and stand directly against any existing badges from any club ... its a heritage design and will evolve many opinions ... I know it's good
Actually I quite like it....especially the blue/white one but with the red on it (so not the one Oddball has as his avatar...the one on the website)... I also like the look of the badge in its red and black form on the away strip. I am really impressed with the idea of changing the badge colours to suit the kit....The current (horrid) blue and white looks at its worse on the away kit, where it jars. I like the "nod" towards the old round badges....I really hate the current "cup" shape I like the clever use of the 1882 to form the Q, my only suggestion would be to make that feature slightly larger, to accentuate the "tail" of the Q All in all I like it.. PS Welcome back oddball, it has been quiet without you.
Welcome back DT, looks like you've been busy..... Initially looking at it in isolation as above I have to say that it didn't have the wow factor.......however looking at it on your website it looks better and the back/red version on the dennis shirt looks really good......it does work and the picture of the 5 amigos is great..... Could have the same staying power as the 82 cup final badge......
Being totally honest, my first thoughts were that it was utter crap. But now I'm actually beginning to like it....a lot. Got a bit of Bayern Munich in its design, simple but stylish.
Good you are getting the background rationale ... It has to look that is has been around for years one of my main directives ... It has to look a traditional marque I am pleased you have seen the Bayern Any skill of any design is taking gear off the page ... anyone can make a trifle IMO It has to work in any colour mean London globally... mean hoops and football ... quirky Q I won't influence anyone's opinion with anymore comments as of course i am the thought behind the design ... simple is strong
I thought it had been quiet on here Welcome back mate. TBH if QPR were a brand of ice cream or toothpaste then this is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect the marketing department to come up with. Modern, sleek and very clever. But we're not. We're a football team with 130 some years of tradition. I say we go back to LBHF and ask how much they want to let us use the borough crest as in the 60s and 70s. That's never going to be bettered IMO.
I do like the blue/white one with the red ring which makes it a little more colorful, combines both home & away skirts but yet looks very puristic. Would like to see the introduction of this nice batch the sooner the better.
Good call mate and I struggled with the history and crests but wanted a design that would look good from everything from QPR toothpaste to the QPR underground station we may someday have We will need to be very clever when the new stadium is built ... there will a spin many of us can't imagine at the moment. We are in a unique position of a new brand and the the old crest would be great I agree and many don't even know of it so it would be new ... but I went with a design that seemed to have more mileage IMO
Like the other, First looked and thought a little plain then when I saw the uses of it in the merchandising could see it fitting in, versatile, simple I like it. The adaptions are endless, place commemorative images in the center for events, makes it something the collectors would need at each change marketers dream.
My fault apologies ... all logos have to be designed in black as a starting point ... this is designed to be any colour
I think it's an excellent design DT... It's strength is it's inherent simplicity and the way you have broken each individual part of the design into it's core elements enhances that simplicity. The use of the various colours also means whatever colour kit we use there will be a complementary crest. I also like the way it can be used in the club name, almost an integral part of it. I really think TF could do a lot worse than that and spend a fortune. BTW welcome back...
Nice one Paul. How do you get it embedded on the iPad screen saver? I crave that. Roundel always more powerful than complicated crests and as Beth says the ease of blending on different shirts stops those horrible clashes/ cheap stuck on look. Pop art meets trad, nice Mod feel which suits West London down to the ground. Bravo professore.
I like it. I think it's absolutely brilliant. It's simple, bold, versatile and iconic. I love the way it's design can adapt to suit the colour of the kit we're wearing. The other potential uses for this concept are almost endless. Well done mate and welcome back. I hope you've shaken off the social media fixation.
