There is always a positive correlation between Ferrari and fires. Would piss me off if they are most prone to burning out to DNF.

Reading the McLaren lanuch info, it seems the cars aren't going to be any slower, if at all, over a lap. But, they will be quicker on the straights, making up for the lost time in the corners becuase of the downforce being taken away.

Should therefore make braking zones longer so the chance of overtaking better?

Bloody hell, it's been an eventful day: Lotus in meltdown; McLaren in a turbulent state of flux. Ferrari and Mercedes must be laughing; FI and Sauber must fancy their chances have improved. Red Bull, of course, don't care, being in a formula all of their own ;)

I thought the bit about harvesting limit of 2MJ per lap but deployment of 4MJ per lap. So once someone can get a reasonable gap they can save their 4MJ to use if anyone gets close. I hope the FOM/FIA have got some decent graphics to show us who is deploying/harvesting and when. It's going to be really interesting if we can see this info, but what's the betting that they wont show us?

Whispers going about the the Ferrari engine is actually heavier than both of the Mercedes and Renault engines and they removed the safety cover on the turbo so they could shed a few kg's. If Renault and Mercedes get what they want they will have a 1-2kg advantage already over Ferrari.

It's very likely Renault and Mercedes will win this battle as Renault are going to show their V6 exploding with and without the covers.

And go where? Out of F1? Unless Lotus don't actually have a car at all and the released car is actually a cardboard cut out I can't believe this to be true.

Would find it hard to beleive he will give up his drive just like that. He's not even of the calibre that one of the other teams woudl consider kicking out one of their drivers to make room for him so what options would he have?

All the top teams have known their driver line-ups for ages, so the cars have been designed around them. None have an obvious weak link, so why risk bringing in a new driver this late?

Daily Fail are reporting that Whitmarsh is in the running to take over the Lotus Team Principal role. I thought Lotus had already announced an internal candidate from Genii was doing that?

Nahhhhhhhhh, he knows he is onto good things in Lotus. Where would he go Mclaren? And sack Button?

Exclusive: Double points rule is because Ferrari failing, says Eccelstone

Ecclestone said of Ferrari chief Luca di Montezemolo: “He was talking about it and I said: ‘It is very simple why we got that [rule]. It is because you aren’t performing. If you were doing what you should be doing there wouldn’t be any need for it.’ He said: ‘I know, I know.’”
The new rules, which take effect from this year and mean the season finale in Abu Dhabi is worth twice as many points as other races, mean there is a greater chance of an outsider snatching the title.
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel has won four world championships in succession and clinched last year’s crown three races before the end of the campaign.
Vettel has been one of the rule’s biggest critics, calling it “absurd” as it “punishes those who have worked hard for a whole season”, yet Ecclestone is pushing to extend it to the last three races.
That would need unanimous support but Red Bull boss Christian Horner is in favour as it would “take away an element of lottery over that last race”.
