JCK, you need to get out of that mindset. You seem to think Tan has a bottomless pit. He's wealthy, yes, very much so. However, your comments over cash and our ability to sign whatever player we wants smacks of naivity. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but there is no substance to your views.
Agree with you jck200. I think we will pull out of the mire in the next couple of months and beat relegation at a canter, our little neighbours are now in freefall and i expect us to be above them within the next 3 weeks.
ccfc, Cardiff were very active in the summer signing players and again in this window that is substance. Ole wanted three players from Molde and they have now been signed. I think the money pit we already spent will do nicely thank you. We have waited a long time for this moment to be in the premiership with a rich owner and you bet your life we are enjoying it to the hilt and why shouldn`t we? Or would you like us to sit here and say nothing lol. jck
I would imagine, as long as we haven't paid over the odds for the three Norwegians, most of the £25m promised to Ole is still available to spend in the next few days.
Not asking you to say nothing JCK. I'm enjoying the ride as well and am looking forward to my trip to OT on Tuesday (first live game for me for a while). What I'm asking for is a level of realism over what we can and can't afford. If it was a bottomless pit and we could have the pick of the players we want, as you have suggested in a number of posts, why is Mata signing for united and not us? Surely he's better than the 3 we've signed, or have I got that wrong? If I have got it wrong, why did Man U release two of the players we've signed, but want Mata? It's all too simple for me.
Wasn't Aldi voted best UK supermarket for last 2 years? Much better value for money than Harrods. Anyway I don't think Mata (great player that he is) would want to sign for us and we wouldn't want to be paying his wages. We have to trust Ole. He has signed players he knows and who he believes can do a job for us. Not sure about the Wigan cb, not a great cv. Brayford to the Wendies relieves some of the wage bill and I expect to see nore going out soon, if only on loan for now. Not sure when Zaha will sign. An issue in us not being able to take Fabio on loan too, as you can't have 2 on loan from the same club. Wonder how much Man U want as a transfer fee?
ccfc...glad you get to see the Utd game...imagine coming back with three points. Sorry but I come from the dark days of lower divisions and relegations and freezing or getting soaked down Ninian Park with Allchurch and Tapscott struggling away. If we found a good player then he was sold right away to bigger clubs for peanuts. To me spending £35 million and again now is beyond my wildest dreams, we can attract good players and we could buy them but at what cost? No one here wants us to spend £40 million on Mata while paying him £200,000 a week when an injury could take him out for the rest of the season. I am certain if we stay up Tan will look to buy big to get where he wants the club to be...how he thinks we can be in the top ten never mind the top four god knows but that`s all he has in his mind. We wanted three players from Molde and we got them. This has all been done quietly and effectively. Compared to the bad old days we can go out and get players now providing the they are not overpriced. Tan has not contacted me personally to ask whether I wanted him to sign Mata or whether he was willing to pay for him. jck
I won't be coming back with 3 points but hope to stay up here with 3 points for Cardiff. Mentioning the players you have, you obviously started watching before me, but I toiled through the mid/late 70s either in the wooden grange end or under the TV gantry on the Bob Bank. I'll re-itterate, we are in a far better position than we have been for a long time (even being bottom of the Premiership), but we still can't sign the biggest players as we either can't afford them or they won't want to come. Irrespective of Tan's millions, we still need to control the budget and so far our midfield is packed with players that won't now get a look in. The wage bill is growing and spending it when you don't need to means it won't be there when you do. QPR tried that and it ended in tears.
The latest Norwegian is a supporting striker. Personally I would play Bellamy alongside Frazier as he has lost a little pace and always wanted to be a central striker. If we get Zaha with him and Noone and Kim we have fast wingers, Catherine is also capable of driving forward as is John. With the Norwegian contingency Frazier will get far more service, without doubt a top class striker. jck
Just working it out. That's Ole, four backroom staff and three players who have now moved from Molde to City. That old Norwegian church in the Bay is going to be busy on Sundays.
I think Ole has been in touch with Roald Dahl through a medium and they're all meeting down the Norwegian Church next week. Roald has written a new book from the other side - it's a rehash of Roy of the Rovers....
It used to be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKD_5JqC-fw Now it's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG-ia0NV8Ts Facts about Norway 1. Cardiff are signing all their players.
Bid accepted from Cardiff for Ivan Ramis being reported. Not sure about this one as he isn't Norwegian. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iván_Ramis
And not a great track record with Wigan. On Wiki yesteday no mention of injury but I saw another comment saying he had been out injured for a while a year ago (might have been 2012). In Ole we trust - I hope. I remember the Wurzels thrusting (typo on their part) in Gary Johnson a few years ago and that got them nowhere.
Yup though wiki opening text at the moment says he still plays for Wigan, the info panel says he's a Cardiff player: - Iván Ramis Barrios.jpg Personal information Full name Iván Andrés Ramis Barrios Date of birth 25 October 1984 (age 29) Place of birth Sa Pobla, Spain Height 1.89 m (6 ft 2 1⁄2 in) Playing position Centre back Club information Current club Cardiff City Number TBA Youth career Mallorca Senior career* Years Team Appsâ (Gls)â 2001â2004 Mallorca B 49 (3) 2004â2012 Mallorca 164 (9) 2005â2006 → Valladolid (loan) 30 (0) 2012â2014 Wigan Athletic 17 (2) 2014- Cardiff City 0 (0) National team 2003 Spain U19 2 (0) 2004 Spain U21 3 (0) 2005 Spain U23 4 (0)
