Absolutely, and also there are three stages of development, the first phase will expand the ground by 3,500 seats, and I'm sure that that's were it will end for a period should we go down, the expansion is flexible as is the time frame, and now as Pagan has pointed out the planning permission has been granted, so we have the green light!.....................
and the other side of the coin is we could spend millions on the stadium that is not ours and we get relegated either this season or very soon in the future and we will lose the glory hunters. we cant fill the stadium every game as it is so how the hell do we expect to fill it in the future....we are a relatively small premiership club however many fans think we are not..While the stadium is not ours then we should save our money until it is ours or we could well be left with a white elephant that we will have to continually pay for whether their is a healthy crowd or a big drop in attendance. We wont get many more going regular in the long run anyway. Its too expensive now and will only get more expensive in the future, fans are not going to matches all around the country now like they use too because of the cost....and that trend will continue every season.....I like the idea but we just wont get the support in attendance to make it pay...
My opinion is to go ahead with stage 1, and then only proceed with stage 2 and then 3 when and if we reguarly fill the stadium. After that , the next stage is start saving to eventually buy outright. If we don't expand, and try to save to buy stadium first, it will take a lot , lot, lot longer as the hopeful extra revenue won't be there.
Some times Dai it would be good for you to show some faith, and be more positive, the Stadium is going to be sold? who else would buy it but us, and I told you previously that there are 8000 waiting for season tickets, even if we sign up half of that if we were to go down, we would still fill the stadium, we need to progress with the size of the club, and revenue has been going up year on year, our stadium is the smallest in the Premiership, and that's lost revenue......
We have to show ambition, and thats two ways. The playing staff and stadium, they both go hand in hand. So I say bring it on!!
Increasing it in stages also makes sense, if we don't fill the expanded area then we stop building etc! We miss a lot of money by not having the capacity, however, we should ensure we are safe and spend enough money to stay in the league first.
I imagine the first phase will go ahead no matter what happens this season. The 2nd and 3rd phases will probably depend on us staying up.
