http://www.latetacklemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Late-Tackle-Pages-34-35.pdf This is good. I wrote it so I'm biased. Unfortunately in the printed edition (Available in WH Smiths) they printed the title page but not the article. And even more unfortunately they edited the bit about Katy Hill (which was originally much longer. In fact the article was originally about Katy Hill but then I realised that had nothing to do with football). Anyway I'd love for you all to read it. You can also find my real name in amongst the Katy Hill.
Enjoyable read. The longer nothing really happens from the take over, the more fans will start to doubt the benefits of it. I am just depressed that the Vale of silence from the last board has continued with this one. The fans are CAFC, but how many will drift away ?
Good article, full of pertinent points. This takeover has been totally underwhelming. It is hard to shake off the feeling that CAFC has jumped out of the frying pan, and into the fire. I personally am uneasy about the motives of our Belgian friend, and suspect that like the last owners, he just sees us as a way of making a fast buck. The farce over the IT problems with Charlton Player yesterday seem to sum up the comatose state of the Club at present.
Good article, Kish, well written. In mitigation though it's fair to point out that, like our previous owners, Roland has bought the club because nobody else wanted us (apart from a consortium who wanted to remain anonymous). Loss-making businesses don't attract a lot of interest.
Forgive me for not being overwhelmed with feeings of gratitude for Roland just yet. 24 days in, and still no striker. Rumours in the press today about Yann going. Its quite conceivable that our best /only striker could leave before we have even strengthened in that area. Will fans find it acceptable if Yann departs and all that replaces him is a loan from Standard Liege?
Of course not, but the choice seems to have been between Roland or administration. Even the Josh Harris rumour had no foundation, he never actually made a bid. No, I don't feel grateful either, but while it remains impossible to run a football club at a profit we're at the mercy of the market. Roland is probably less concerned with what the fans think than Slater/Jiminez, so if we don't like what he does we can do the other thing, which many fans will.
Nice one, Kish. I have been watching your progress with a 'Keen' eye, and I can safely say you are moving in the right direction. Keep it up, pal.
The Kish's development is indeed coming along nicely. All we need to see from him now is a little more bile'vitriol, and then he will be fully embraced into the fold of the Officially Perenially Sceptical/ Discontent (current members Ponders, typical, iwant, houndal & moi)
Surely it's beneficial to all for the club to communicate good news, the fact that we don't get any is the main reason The Valley is half empty these days... We still have time for that to happen I suppose, but I really thought certain things would've been sorted by now, contracts, a proper striker, the discovery of grass ... Anything positive..? Perhaps the club could tweet a message, giving us an opportunity to witness an owner of ours move his jaw up & down...
The reason The Valley is half-empty is because of the dire brand of football. More performances like the last hour against Brighton and you'd see an improvement in attendance figures.
Signing better quality players would go some way to giving us better performances, with the squad we have, I only expect the odd hour here & there.
