Let's sell him back to an Italian club. That way, when he inevitably scores against us in the future, it will have to be because we are in Europe.
I'm in 2 minds. Sell him now, recoup some money but set a bad president. Or tell him he's not welcome to train, let him rot for a few months and sell in summer. He may be forcing a move.
Maybe this is just how Italian strikers feel they have to behave in order to be picked for the World Cup Squad. He is competing with Balotelli after all. Maybe the manager bases it on who can be the most massive useless ****.
Come to think of it, with those two up front for Italy, and Suarez up front for Uruguay, it makes you wonder who Costa Rica's strikers are... Chairman Mao and Freddie Kruger?
What surprises me is that Saints pride themselves in all the background work they do on new signings to ensure they get good value, and yet Osvaldo's history of numerous sendings off and punching Lamela in the face just over a year ago is clear for all to see. Is it really a surprise we've had the Newcastle incident and now the one with Fonte after recent history, or did Poch think that he'd be up to the challenge of taming him because he'd managed him before!
I think Romseysaint, that that is what was thought. I am sure that NC and MP had a good long chat together and then with Dani himself about his previous behavior. I am sure he said he'd be good and I am sure that MP thought he could handle him. They probably also thought that if it went wrong, a 27 year old Italian international could be sold back to Italy for a decent fee and then they decided to take the risk. The reward potential was huge. Shame as it doesn't look to have worked.
"Adam Blackmore ‏@bigadamsport Jose Fonte got a broken nose I'm told as well as a split eye in Osvaldo attack - with Lovren out, incident could cost #saintsfc dear"
Think he was the charmer who spat on the back of a rickshaw driver and then photographed it and bragged about it.
Could see one of those cool crime-fighter masks then. Presumably by "split eye" he means around the eye socket not a split eyeball!
Maybe in another week or two, but he won't be able to play just after the nose has (I presume) been reset. The swelling will take a few days to go down, let alone what's happened to his eye. So a couple of weeks out, probably.
Could we hire a ringer to play and just say it is Jose in a mask. If Mauricio isn't on the touchline.... He is featuring a lot in the training gallery.
