Hi Guys, I am on here most days as I find this board the most vibrant and entertaining board on the whole forum. I'm an Ipswich Town fan for my sins and my wife is a Liverpool fan so I get to see a lot of your games mainly away from Anfield. I just wanted to get your thoughts on Ipswich and our chances of reaching the promised land with Mick McCarthy! I sure miss the days when we used to play each other every season. The last time we played, you spanked us and Emile Heskey scored a fecking hat trick! We seriously were that bad to allow that great lump to put three past us! Any constructive thoughts will be appreciated and keep up the good work on this forum!

I also love the fact that you regularly spank our country cousins from up the road. <ok>

Emile Heskey is one of the all-time Anfield greats, don't besmirch the man's name!

I've been to the East Anglia Derby, I used to live near Bury St Edmunds. Not a fan of Mick I'm afraid.

He's a Liverpool hero. Children around here don't wear shirts with Suarez, Gerrard, Sturridge or even Coutinho. They long for the days of Heskey and Owen - the glory days. Dads share stories by the fire of the time he bullied his way past 4 defenders (without the ball) so that Owen had a clear path through to goal. The times when he pretended to trip over his own feet go generate confusion in the ranks of the defense which allowed Gerrard to storm through the centre amidst the chaos and confusion.

    The man was brilliant.

Why do you think Gerrard wanted the number 8 shirt so bad? He hoped to capture the 'Essence of Emile' and channel it into his game.

    That's unlike you Gerrez!

To be fair I'm not expecting an avalanche of replies but I just thought it would be interesting to see if any of you guys are based in East Anglia and knew much about us! We haven't been in top flight since 2002 and unfortunately I don't see us getting back there anytime soon! There seems to be a big Liverpool following in the Town as a lot of the kids are wearing Liverpool tops.

Not seen many Championship games this season, TBH. But you guys seem to be there or thereabouts at the moment, and have an experienced enough manager in McCarthy. Good luck against Reading, BTW, as they played a blinder against Bolton from what I've heard. <ok>

I liked going to Portman Rd always a good atmosphere, didn't get to see Liverpool there though, it's quite sad that I've been to other grounds more than I've been to Anfield and I've seen Liverpool while sat in an away end more than I have sat with our own fans.

Just a matter of money and location.

  10. I know someone that supports Ipswich I'm not a big Mick McCarthy fan and I'd like to see you get back in the PL. However, if all the teams I'd like to see back were, the league would be made up of about forty teams <laugh>

Yeah, McCarthy would look like Mourinho compared to Keane. Some people are just not cut out for management. <ok>

I still find it pretty ironic that we have had to bring in McCarthy to sort out the huge bloody mess that Keane had left behind! Shades of the World Cup in 2002 when Keane left McCarthy in the brown stuff by walking out on his team mates!

As a Corkonian like Roy , I'll have to set you straight there.

    1. There was no balls, kit, cones etc. in Saipan
    2. The pitch had more stones , rocks and holes in it than grass. It was and is now again a carpark as the island doesnt have a pitch.
    3. Keane gave an interview to an Irish paper criticising the above and the fact the goalkeepers werent training added to the fact the team were going on booze benders each night.
    4. McCarthy had words with Keane in his room and all was sorted until Breakfast when Mac called the whole squad in and read out the newspaper article.
    5. Keane didnt like Macs tactics of trying to play him off against the squad and left mac know in full view of the squad including the famous " you were a **** player and you are a **** manager, youre not even Irish you plastic Paddy prick" amongst other insults that were traded.
    6. McCarthy then KICKED Roy out of the squad and sent him home.

Hope this clears up your whole walked out bollox <ok>

Fair play you obviously know more about it than me. My son was a match day mascot when Roy was our manager he absolutely loved talking to Roy and he will never forget the experience.

<ok> this wont go down well on this board but I think everyone on this board will understand.

Roy is gentleman off the pitch without sounding boastful or name dropping etc. whenever Roy is home I seem to end up having a few pints with him , he does be on the orange juice.

he then shuts the pub <pays the owner> no alcohol for sale for a few hours and all the locals and some non locals bring their kids in for pictures autographs free soft drinks and crisps etc.

not to mention his charitable work.

many wont like that because hes a manc but its like suarez everyone except reds hate h8m but the lad is supposedly a good one away from football.
