I voted for sell asap, on the basis that the story is accurate and he instigated a fight with fonte and beat the crap out of him. They are team mates and if he can't settle disputes amicably then I'm afraid he must go. If fonte was to blame then it's a bit different but even if it was 50/50 he should have more control. Especially in training. Atm he has far more negatives than his on pitch performance can make up for.
And he came with a reputation for being a nutter, having previously punched/choked a teammate and generally sowed discontent. The hope was that the calming influence of Poch and being removed from an unhappy dressing room at Roma would have a positive effect...it has, for Roma, but Osvaldo is still a nutter. He's 28; he ought to know better by now. If he doesn't, get rid.
Read that bit first and thought you were referring to me for a second there Seriously though, we don't know anywhere near enough to make that judgement. People at the club do, and they will decide in due course, and we have no right to question whatever decision they make really. I suspect, due to the huge amounts of money involved, that they will try to smooth things over. Puncheon was brought back into the fold successfully after all, so maybe Osvaldo can be too.
I prefer option 3, if possible. If it affects players one iota (eg. they won't pass to him, resent being benched in place of him etc.), then should probably go. I do like a redemption story, though...
Confirmed what though? We know very little about the actual incident. Could have been 'heads together' as we see frequently on the pitch, or it could have been a bloodthirsty assault. Both of those, and everything in between, match the description I've heard.
If it was just heads together I wouldn't class that as a head butt would you? Still the punch alone is bad enough.
I think that the biggest clue to how serious the incident might be is the 2 week suspension, surely if it was a case of heads together then the club wouldn't have acted so swiftly and decisively for such a minor incident. Jose has not been reprimanded at all so Dani is solely to blame and don't think the club would suspend an important player lightly.
No I wouldn't but some people would. "Butting heads" is not quite the same as "head butting" but you can see how it could easily get confused. Again, "punch" is quite a wide definition as well, could be an exaggerated push, could be a haymaker, we have no idea, and we probably won't ever find out these details.
I would hope that none of our 'professional' footballers would even contemplate not passing to another player. That thought process would be far worse that a heated moment on the training ground. Had he squared up to Andy Carroll at uptown park, we would elevating him to legend status and claiming a little bit of aggression is a natural part of the game.
I voted to sell him. I think headbutting your teamate is absolutely barbaric. I don't want that sort of character around my team regardless of potential ability - it's more detrimental to the collective than it is positive
I'd never have a player that headbutts people in my team. Except Zidane. The paradoxes of a football fan right there. Look, IF the team are happy once things calm down, and IF Dani apologises, and IF he takes some proactive steps towards managing his issues, and IF he knuckles down for the team - all this will go down into club myth and legend and forgiven pretty quickly by all of us fans. And that's perfectly fine with me.
