We'll knowing the Chavs it's probably more like £15m. Oh well, let's move on. M'vila or Fernando please.
Ya, would have liked him but too many other positions need strengthing. POSSIBLY blessing in that we were slow to act and Chelsea came in and got him. May make the other deals go a bit quicker to not lose out on a target......... again.
If we had really wanted him we'd have gone in straight away it seems to me that he was a player we wanted at the right price or not at all.
I like that we aren't willing to pay crazy fees for players, since we got the committee it seems to have changed. But we do need to get a move on, starting with a DM.
I appreciate us trying to get the best possible deal and showing clubs that we won't be pushed around when it comes to negotiating but surely if he was a player we wanted we should be doing everything within our power to get our man? Having said that, I'm not bothered about Salah at all. I want a CM and if thats all we get I'll be very happy. If we make six signings and none of them are in that area, I won't be happy, simple as that.
. Mito said something similar, how far to gamble with summers budget now with the knowledge that if it fails you'll have the Suarez money anyway. But then we're back to who are the targets. If BR has said only improvement on existing players from now on then they start to cost more than ten million at this end of the league. So either they're the wrong targets or our pricing structure is unreasonable for the level of player we should now be bringing in. Which means we can only buy so many of them and they all have to succeed.
I agree. We nearly went bust paying over the odds for players, now only time will tell if Salah is any good or not but £16mil(reported) for a 21 year old that has never played in a half decent league is over the odds no matter what way we look at it.
So either we're identifying players who aren't good enough (if they aren't worth the same as Joe Allen cost) or we didn't identify/bid for a player Maureen thinks is good enough....
Or we're failing to recognise how good a player is a undervaluing them? Or we've got it spot on and were right not to go all out for him?
Well Rodgers said today that there was nothing imminent and Chelsea agree a fee this afternoon so I'd say we made a bid got turned down and moved on. There are different types of signings, ones for the future, squad players and the ones we want now. I'd say that by the way we went around this he was seen as a player that falls into the first 2 categories.
The fee was £11m http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25868272 Mohamed Salah: Chelsea agree deal to sign Basel winger Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah from Swiss champions Basel for a fee in the region of £11m.
#LFC transfer negotiations is like being on eBay. #LFC: "there's only 2 mins left, our 34p bid will be fine". #CFC: "buy it now".
