Firstly it more than likely was Nolans decision to leave, it shocked me at first but he probably knows next season he'll be a bit part player and after that won't get a look in so why would he sign the new contract? He wants to play football and he enjoyed the Championship so i'm sure when he heard of the bid he thought it would be a good chance to play regularly and score goals. Also remember Nolan probably knows a bit about our targets so maybe he knows for sure he won't get a look in?

And Joey Barton is a legend, speaks his mind, genius statement.

I'm not majorly upset about this tbh, yes he had a good season and was our captain, I just can't see him cutting it at the top level for much longer, all the formation porn shows that, we have a great midfield - which is getting stronger, Cabaye, Tiote, Jonas, Barton, Gosling, Ben Arfa, Fergi, guthrie.. If we lose Joey and Jonas we will get in better replacements. Nzogbia will come home and he's better than Jonas. Whilst I'm sure if Joey leaves we'll bring in someone of equal quality also !

Many reasons to be sad sure, but think if we had already made the midfield signings we're hoping for it wouldn't be such a disappointment. It's just happening the other way around - Maybe it's better to show potential signings they will have a space to fight for in the team, rather than joining an over populated team

Keep the faith. Pardew has a vision an that didn't involve a declining slow, non slim goal scoring midfielder who happened to be our captain. Not the end of the world.

 

This isn't going to go down well but i dont mind that he's off. At the end of the day he will struggle to start next season with the likes of HBA and DG back along with Cabaye and Tiote, and he is one of the higher earners.

Also if he isn't playing week in week out he probably wouldn't be captain. People talk about atmosphere and squad harmony but if KN wasn't a starter or captain, then whats to say he wouldn't have a negative impact?

I would like JB to stay, but his twitter outburst probably aren't acceptable by the club.

Yes it's a shame Nolan is going but I'm not that upset about it. Yes he scored goals but I have the feeling that teams would have wised up to him next season and he wouldn't have score so many. Speculation I know but it's what I believe.

Many people have mentioned the team spirit he brought to the club but we don't employee players for what they bring to the dressing room. If we did then lets get rid of Nolan and bring in Peter Kay or James Corden
