Bale? Suarez? City's defence isn't great either though but the fact they can score more than anyone means their case for defence isn't a great issue. With van Persie & Rooney being fed by Mata, that's a frightening trio.
"Apparently Chelsea are trying to hi-jack Mohammed Salah from Liverpool, who does thet remind me of..." That requires Spurs to usurp the Poool first. Thus inflating his price to ensure Chelsky then pay top dollar for transfer/wages to get him from us. Basel will thank us for getting involved.
I agree with what he's saying though. The January transfer window is a bad for football. Ideally we'd have a proper winter break at midseason(like everyother top league) and at that point you could open a loan window to allow players not getting game time to leave and depleted squads to get some back up.
It can be unfair, but more so if a club like us is in a relegation fight and we go out and spend millions in the window, while our "rivals" can only spend a few million. Or say when Pompey pulled off that great escape, they went out and spent millions, was anyone moaning? Wenger himself said "if someone extraordinary comes along we will sign him" Man Utd have done just that, ok its from Chelsea but I don't agree in this case that Wenger has much to moan about, its more a sign hes worried about the title fight.
I don't think the comments should be dismissed simply because of who is saying it. There is the *potential* of unfairness in these transfers and the *potential* that a rich club could use it to their advantage by farming out players to other teams for their indirect benefit. The simple way of addressing this would be a rule change to say that a player can't play more than twice in the PL against the same team in the same season. Or is that too simple for the powers that be to comprehend?
Another thing that annoys me is that Chelsea have like 25 players out on loan. It's as a result of their player hoarding, signing up as many of the talented youngsters in the expectation that they'll be sold on for a profit, not that they'll be promoted to the first team.
I don't think so, we've never signed youth players and young first team players in such bulk that we can't even fit them in our squad. I also don't think we've signed anyone with no intention of giving them a chance to play. You look at Chelsea and they signed Atsu in the summer as he was going cheap and then loaned him straight out along with the rest. If he impresses in the next 3 years out on loan then they'll sell him off at a big profit, there's no danger they were serious about getting him into the first team.
You could argue Chelsky are just lowering the odds of more of their kids becoming good enough to have a future in the seniors. And for those who don't meet their reqs, being able to at least sell them on with no net financial loss to the club.
who ever it was who said that chelsea are going to screw over liverpool for Salah, well, they have. A deal has pretty much been agreed. Edit: just seen that this has been posted in the Rival watch thread. Good signing for chelsea, Salah looks like a quality player.
Ripped Assou-Ekotto a new one last season. Did quite a number on Chelsea this campaign too, which probably prompted the move.
he was outstanding. He was good against Chelsea too. No wonder they've been keeping track of him since. just been trying to find whatever rumours i can. There's not much today, so far. Apparently West Ham are after Dawson, but nothing will happen unless silly money is offered. Sig is wanted, and could go to Fulham as part of a deal for Berbatov.
