I seem to remember all kinds of nonsense quotes from him when we were trying to sign Mbiwa. Mbiwa deserved a bigger club, Mbiwa would cost the earth etc... We signed him for a fairly reasonable sum in the end so we'll just have to wait and see with Cabella.

I don't blame Alan at all for this. I just think he's just a victim of this bullshit faux-interest we show in players. I just think it's indicative of what will happen in the window if the manager, who, when all said and done, usually holds a significant sway in pushing deals over the line by talking to targets, isn't around the place.

It's the first cliche out of every footballer's mouth after they move, "the manager convinced me this was the place to be" (sure the extra 000000s on the end of the paycheck helped too, but hey ho), and it would to me seem odd if this didn't represent at least a partial truth. If Alan's not involved in deals at all, I'm very very worried.

 

Going back to this whole Cabella transfer lark, wtf is going on.

He's been stuck in Montpellier best part of the month being messed about, to the point that he wont have time to sort out any other business.
So before anyone blames Joe, look no further than the Montpellier President for no players coming in.

Poor old bugger hasn't even been able to jet off to Dubai with the team and Pards, which is unfair to say the least, and has had to stay in the South of France topping up his tan.

Anyway, he now has a week to sort out some business, so come on Joe get going, dossiers with you to Germany, Italy, any f****** where, just get some good players in to replace Shola, Obertan etc.

Cabella is wanted by Newcastle, preferably this month. Montpellier reckon keeping him is their best shot at staying in Ligue 1. Hence the pi$$ing contest. We'll almost certainly sign him, it's just a case of "when". All the posturing by the French is designed to keep us away. That's it.

 

Look we will probably sell Cisse, make around 8-10 million and will most likely bring in no one. Job done for the board.
