Anyone watch it last night - holy **** it was the worst shootout I've ever seen. Those player get £60+k a week and can't even hit the target? I have made no secret about Man Utd being my second team but even I found it absolutely hilarious!
I feel quite sorry for Man United really. I always knew it was going to be tough for whoever took over from Ferguson, and knew there would be a settling-in period. But they just look dreadful, and Moyes has made some really weird decisions. Think he'll last the season? Can they afford to not be in the Champions League?
With all the changes that happened last season, i think even Alex Ferguson would be struggling this season, Liverpool look better, Chelsea and Man City have had definite improvement, Arsenal are holding on longer than they usually do near the top 2, theres not been any real investment since Van Persie at Man U, and with him and Rooney out, they are looking nothing like the team that won last year. I think they will stick with Moyes, but i wonder if his name will be able to attract the big names they need?
.. don't think his name matters tbf ... they are still Manchester United ... arguably the best known / best supported football team in the world ... and that is all.
Alot of people say this, you pick the club, not the manager, but surely players are going to look at Man U's situation, they are going to see a manager that isn't really considered one of the best in the world, especially if they miss out on Champions league football next season. They are paying top dollar for Mata because it seems as if hes not wanted at Chelsea. Would Ronaldo have considered going back to Man U if Jose was their manager? i think theres more chance of him being interested in that than he would be at the moment.
My name is Jose I once played for Arsenal - we got into the Champions League in each of the 5 seasons I was there ... but we didn't win it ... My name is Jose, I played for Manchester United.... Sir Matt Busby, Georgie Best, Bobby Charlton, Sir Alex Ferguson ... Old Trafford in front of 75,000 weekly ... millions have bought shirts around the world that have my name on it ..... I lived the dream
My name is Jose. I played for Arsenal....Thiery Henry...Dennis Bergkamp...Patrick Viera...Arsene Wenger...The Emirates in front of 50,000 weekly...millions have bought shirts around the world that have my name on it...I lived the dream.
... not a bad outfit admittedly ... but still nowhere near as much appeal as Man United on the world stage ...
Personally, I'm loving the Man Utd capitulation- their supporters have been the perennial irritants of my adolescence, taking the piss in school when they can barely even point Manchester out on a map. The madness shown by some of their supporters- the idiot who rang 999 last night for example (I seem to remember something similar happening last year around the time of their Champions' League exit) is hilarious, and Leicester's relative security is rather nice. We're going to see a few of these plastic fans turning out in Leicester next year if we do go up.
