That's either gone through a translator or Yoda has gone into sports journalism. Sounds interesting and quite a scouting expedition - can anyone give any more insight into the guy?
Sorry about the translation lads and Beth. Northolt posted a link to this on Twitter but it's in Dutch. I used Google Translate and that's how it turned out.
Honestly, I'll believe that when I see it. When Helguson came up with us he was immense in the EPL and was only held back by injury. He gave a good number of top EPL defences the runaround. If this young player is anything like him then yes please.
Here's a an updated translation.................... QPR move in for Ajax goal machine According to reports in Holland, Queens Park Rangers have been monitoring Ajax forward Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and are interested in signing him during the current transfer window. The 23 year old was also linked with Celtic at the back end of last year after he impressed during their Champions league clashes. Voetball International revealed today that last night the West London club sent a delegation to watch the Icelandic youngster in action. Manager Harry Redknapp was also present at the game as he looks to reinforce his squad in the club’s pursuit for promotion back to the Premier League. Ajax overcame bitter rivals Feyenoord 3-1 but Sigthorsson only came on as a second half substitute and his place in the starting eleven isn’t a guarantee under manager Frank de Boer. QPR have yet to hold talks with the Dutch champions and a bid hasn’t yet been received. Sigthorson has struggled with injuries since he joined Ajax and therefore his appearances have been limited. In his first three seasons with the club the player only made 34 league appearances but he still posted impressive scoring figures. The youngster has scored 17 goals in those 34 league games. He was prolific with AZ too, scoring 15 goals in 32 league appearances which got him his move to Ajax. He has made 20 appearances this season scoring 8 goals. He also has a similar rate with the Iceland national team scoring 13 in 20 games since he made his debut in 2010. With QPR struggling for goals this season Redknapp will be hoping to bring somebody in that can provide this and Sigthorrson may be the answer.
Yep we need the Icelandic connection again.....right age bracket, decent scoring record at both club and international level.....too good to be true????
Definitely, I agree with every word of that. Sigþórsson is only 23, he's 1.86 m (6 ft 1 in), taller than Helguson and uses that to compete in the same way as Heidar did. It's not a given that he's a success but even how much I loved and appreciated Helguson, this lad is the better of the two. And he's done exceptionally well for the minnows Iceland with 13 goals in 20 internationals. Compare that to Helguson's 12 in 55 and you know he is the real deal.
The new HH? If so, sign him up. HR was definitely at Ajax as it was reporting in another forum a couple of days ago. Scores 1 in 2 games in the dutch top league too.
Should be fine for us. I have had a sneak preview of the new stadium plans. It looks great ... especially the 3 storey hospital wing connecting to the Stan Bowles stand.
Can't we just assemble a new striker from the limited working parts we already have among our crocks?
