I hate that argument. I've seen it said many times and it such a stupid thought pattern. Sturridge being a great example.
Mata, top player, he's the start of the rebuild, if they keep the likes of RvP and Looney, add to that a couple of decent Midfielders now or in the Summer, a decent defender or two, they'll be back in the mix next year.. Even with Gollum in charge!
Its as if Jamie doesnt rate mata based on what hes saying. Tbf hes probably been paid to be that stupid so I will give him the benefit of doubt.
2 x player of the year, chelseas best player, best number 10 in the league arguably. Reckon I can deal with a reject like this.
Mata - 40mil? probably at least 30 most days.. no question. very very good player. if ozil was 50mil mata being 40mil makes some sense.
In the premier league mata is better. Im a big fan of Ozil bit hes not been amazing. Early days for Ozil mind. Silva is the only one who you can say is better, even then, silva has always been hot and cold for me.
If Man U were not a glorified version of Stoke under Tony Pulis then I would say Mata would be a great signing for them but he might get a creak in his neck from looking at the ball sail over his head.
you would think Martinez and Moyes got their signings the wrong way round lol well potential ones, that lanky french player i mean.
Mata wasn't amazing when he first arrived but he got better. Ozil's been here since the summer and will get better. Given a straight choice between the two I'd take Ozil. IMO, Ozil is one of the best No.10's in the world, Mata can't get in the Spanish or Chelsea (albeit, most of us don't agree) sides. However, Mata is more versatile too so I guess it comes down to what you want from the player.
Fully agree. Ozil is brilliant but I was merely talking in premier league terms. Matas heen here and done it. Whats the Spanish situation like? Mata has plenty of caps and featured in the big games it seems.
Would you like a list of English players that have plenty of caps despite not being our best players?
I reckon moyes will stick mata out side right... get the least out of him to accommodate rooney cos rooney would play outside left and neither will rvp. fitting all 3 requires (a much over due) total chance in utd formation to better suit the new footballing paradigm. I expect two new midfielders to arrive and utd to focus on full backs to provide width. either that or fellinai will play for long ball... who knows.. if utd stick mata cm in a 4-4-2 with two wingers ... mad...
Mata is wasted out on the wing. Still at least they will have options, which is better than having no-one at all. Having said that, I mentioned on the other board that I was surprised your lot hadn't tried to sign him. Would have been a worthwhile signing to play with the likes of Suarez and Sturridge.
shouldnt be though, extra tv money potential to earn more from cl money, we need to look at the bigger picture and see if its worth it, obviously we dont think so or they are being tight ****s. we have money coming in, where is it all going. i want to see us get cl football just to see how ambitious our owners actually want to be, as they would have no fecking excuses of getting quality players then at a price.
