Feel free to read my opinion above. He is over-priced considering the situation but based purely on his abilities he's not.
Mata is worth every penny of 40 Million but it is a panic buy because you need a decent Centre back, a holding midfielder, a left back, a right back and probably another striker rather than another Number 10 surely? There are more holes in your team then a bloody colander.
Read my first post. It clearly states 'some'. The situation is a strange one, he's also played 13 PL games and has created more chances than any of the players getting in ahead of him. £40million for Chelseas best player is a bargain.
In response to the OP: Yes, easily. If bale is £80+ million and Mata was offered at £40 million I'd snap their hand off!
I imagine United are ****ting themselves with worry. On the other hand we'll just sign a midfielder. Vidal or Gundogan perhaps as the same folk reporting the mata deal happen to be doing.
Fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion, but do you not think you could have got him cheaper considering he isn't wanted and he's unhappy? Also, do you think he is what you need as a priority?
I'm surprised weve got him this cheap. In the summer United fans were screaming for us to splash £50million on him. £36million ( According to the telegraph its done at this price ) is brilliant.
Fair enough. As much as I'd love us to splash £36m on Mata, I wouldn't be ecstatic if we had purely because of other areas in more need of attention and I think that applies to you guys too. That's not to say I wouldn't be happy that we'd got such a great player though. Quality player though and you fans should be happy
Mata (in todays crazy market) is easily worth £37 mill. That's not much more than we ****ed away on 1 Mandy or an Allen and a Downing ffs. Will he solve all manures problems? Nope, not unless he's been hired to shoot Moyes but....if he's the first of two or three good signings it could well be enough to get them back in top four this season. It hurts to say it but I wish we'd sign more class players like Mata (or more players like Suarez) and stop tossing away money on garbage like Borini, Allen, Aspas and Ilori (grand total of £40mill for a handful of games between them).
He is one of our priority`s. We are not scoring enough goals because we are not creating enough chances (plus our two main goal scorers have been injured for long periods) our crap defence has let in two more goals than City`s and one less than Liverpool`s so i would think if we score more we will do better!
He's worth 40m to United, frankly it's a bargain given how desperate United are. Chelsea should have taken them to the cleaners. In terms of us, we need to spend that kind of money in other areas of the pitch
Man City and Liverpool don't exactly have a great defence do they Remember, Moyes is a defence first type of manager. I never said it wasn't what you needed, I said he isn't a priority. IMO, your priority, like us, should be a more defensive minded CM. Mata is still a good signing though. Why? what's he done or said? If he said Mata won't join Man Utd, surely it makes Chelsea and Jose look silly more than Jamie since everyone under the sun didn't think it would happen, including Chelsea and Man Utd fans!
Hes perplexed as to why we are signing a player who cant get a game for Chelsea.... Like I said, stupid.
