On Wednesday morning we brought you quotes from Emanuele Giaccherini's agent Furio Valcareggi. He'd spoken to a radio station in Italy, picked up by TMW, and denied that his client is going to Fiorentina "Giaccherini will not move from Sunderland. He's fine in the Premier League where he is doing very well. There is no reason for him to want to go away."

That hasn't stopped Fiorentina. A later report from TMW covers further claims in Italy that Fiorentina have again moved for the Italian international but are this time concentrating on a summer transfer. They claim that first contact has already been made about the potential move.

In Italy it's felt that Giaccherini was Paolo Di Canio's man and that Gustavo Poyet doesn't see him as a part of his core team. They say that's backed up by him not being part of the team as much recently, and on that front they have got a point.

Giaccherini has only appeared in two games so far this year and only completed one of those, that's caused alarm in Italy where they were surprised to see him go to Sunderland in the first place. The Italian press feel that the move from Juventus to Sunderland was a big drop and are now aghast that he's not even getting picked, they want their boy back.

Hasn't played much recently has he?

I think the pace and frequency of games is too much for him. He needs a season to bed in imo. Glad the fans aren't on his back though. Wish Jozy could get the same respect.

I'd be gutted to see him leave - much as I was with Sessegnon.

Him, Johnson and Ki should be our midfield attacking 3. Borini up top as it is at present. He has fantastic quality on the ball but has only played bit parts.

You are of course are entitled to your opinion about Dozy, the fact that you are similar to that of climate change deniers in going against all scientific proof is amusing.

As for Giacc, I think he is okay but it may be that he does not figure into Gus's game plan, if Borini and Johnson are on the wings, Fletcher or Altidoe as lone striker Catts is defensive Ki attacking, he seems to pick Larsson (fail) or Gardner (even bigger fail) ahead of Giac is bemusing. For me Giac is industrious and hardworking and does have skills I would have him and Ki play CM...but hay what do I know

Sad reality of a goalscorer - I have seen glimpses of what Giaccherini is capable of. I am yet to see anything from Altidore in front of goal.

I don't want him to fail Bri - I just haven't had any signs to show me he's capable of what we all thought (and hoped) he was capable of. I think if he's still here next season you will see a different Jozy Altidore. If the boo boys don't hound him out

    So. Jozy needs to acclimatise?

How long has he been here?

What the **** goes on in training?

Is it his first experience of the Premiership?

Is that so? You seem to think I'm in some kind of denial. Fact is I know all about climate change, difference is I don't hurl abuse or put people down for their carbon footprint. Clearly next time you're out in your car you think it's fine for pedestrians to hurl abuse at you for driving?

He's clearly struggling with the league, it's not rocket science fella, he scored goals for fun in a much poorer league. This is a big step up combined with his low confidence that the fans insist on pummelling. What hope has he got?

Same here. I've seen his qualities as a forward, his link up play is fabulous when team mates get closer to him but not as a striker. Playing with one up front is not doing him good but it's the most effective way for us to play and team come first. Although he packs pace it takes him ages to get up to speed as his acceleration is non existent so that rules him out of a wide forward roll. He's got a lot of work to do. Like Giacc who is getting caught on the ball constantly weather it being out muscled or the pace of the game catching him out. Both have a lot of work to do but I won't get on their back. I'd like them both to get a full season under their belts before we decide their future.

I wish it was, his experience of the premier league with Hull is part of the problem. He is still hauling the baggage from Hull with him, and its weighing his confidence down.

Altidore will most likely be starting tonight as Fletcher is not fully fit (although some had us believing he was moving due to his lack of inclusion in the starting line up - I said he was injured on Saturday when I saw him complete a warm up that Shaun T would be proud of in order to make sure hw asn;t going to overdo things - he also "wanted it" on Saturday -

Semi final tonight - and, according to talkshite, that keeper we signed yesterday has gone straight into the squad? Have the rules changed as I thought you had to be registered for the first leg?? UNless it's the FA cup where a player must be registered for the first game to qualify to play in the replay??

Is it not has to be registered for the first game (as in to rule out the replay - fa cup for example) rather than a 2-legged tie?

I do feel sorry for jozy he clearly works hard for the team. I just think the prem might be too hard for him. For those who say he needs a season look at bony at Swansea, same league, similar build, more goals.

Doubt it - he;s off to Monaco - Had a release clause for a transfer out of the UK for £150k - yet they turned down millions for him in the summer.

Although I would like to see him at our club

And more chances created for him though - although I have seen Jozy fail to shoot when in similar positions to Bony

probably sound like a broken record, but confidence is key (as well as the way we play him, and the quality of the service). Jozy's confidence is non-existent, his time at Hull left him doubting his own ability and joining a team, where even Fletcher isn't scoring goals meant that he never got those 1st few goals which would have upped his confidence.

Totally this. I think Giacherinni will be a huge asset for this club next season ans we should be building around him not selling him.
