?

Is the Nolan deal good business or madness?

  1. It is a discrace

  2. I'm very disappointed, but worse things could happen

  3. Its seems not bad business, due to Nolan Attributes

  4. Its a good deal!

Nolan gone frees up the central attacking midfield position for Ben Arfa, without having to give Nolan games out of sentimentality. Tioté and Cabaye will probably be our new central midfield, with Barton on the wing if he's still here.

    [Striker]
    Ben Arfa
    Gutierrez - Tioté - Cabaye - Barton
    Enrique - Coloccini - Taylor - Simpson

Of course Enrique/Barton could both go from that formation, but they'll have some form of replacement should that happen.

    Yep, i do remember this.

More i think about losing Nolan, the more i dont mind. We have 10 plus midfielders and 4 spaces. It looks to me that we're going for speed and skill, suits me fine.

    All the best Nolan.

    Nope.

Sorry if I'm repeating what anyone else has said, much to lazy to read 5 pages.

This is a joke. Where is the logic in selling our captain? Joey Barton will probably be off now - he tweeted the other day how important it was to keep Nobby. So the board react by selling him for £5m.

3 years ago we had a team full of dickheads who didnt want to play for us, now we are selling those who wore the shirt with pride the last 2 seasons.

In terms of his goals, i think he benefitted a lot form carrolls strength and getting knock ons, tap ins etc. Since carroll left half way thro the season, he only scored 2 goals.....the same as Jonas in the same period.

And while I am on...how boring is it now getting with every pre-season everyone coming on saying '...you are a laughing stock...deserve to go down...you will do a leeds...blah blah blah'. (and past two seasons proved them wrong). Its even happening here and its not that much a major suprise!

This is exactly my opinion. Gardner has shown he can be a real box to box player, something that Nolan just didnt have the fitness for. Yes he was integral to our team spirit last season, but this summer it all seems like him and Joey are looking out for each other than the club. I'd say thanks for everything Kevin, you were a legend for helping us back up and for sticking 3 past the unwashed.

But if he is looking after his own interests, Newcastle need to look after theirs. And I cant see a 5 million bid coming our way again. Sell, buy Gardner, and have people who put the club first here instead!!

I understand what you say, OT, but totally disagree (with respect of course!)

I believe that Nolan was vital to the spirit of the dressing room, which served us so well, the past two seasons. I believe that Barton and Jose will also leave, as well as possibly Jonas and Colo.

My fear is that we will be left with another dressing room of foreign mercenaries, with no particular affinity or love, for the club, and we know what happened the last time this was the case!!

In addition, I believe that these developments, on top of the Carroll sale, while they may be "good business", can only weaken the position of Alan Pardew, with the players. Clearly, his wishes don't count with Ashley and Lambias, as he made it quite clear that he wanted Nolan to stay.

Pardew will either resign, on principle, or try to put a brave face on it, as he did with the Carroll sale. However, I believe that his credability will be damaged beyond repair, both with the fans and within the club. If he stays, he will be a "dead man walking" from now on.

Possibly Zog, Barnetta, Gardner to throw into that mix. Makes ya think Joey's probably off too then. Meh.

Like many others have already said, I don't think that this is the end of the world providing we bring in a decent replacement.

Very few of us had Nolan in our starting 11 for next year, and although he was an a big character in the dressing room, we are basically picking up £5 million for a player who probably would have been a bench warmer next season.

Cabaye and Gardner (if we get him) will no doubt be on lower wages and are much younger.

I'll be honest, it'll be a loss for him to go, but Nolan was a poor CM apart from his goals. However, with Ben Arfa coming back, who could score as many as Nolan and more technically gifted, i cant see Nolan being a massive loss. A knock to team spirit maybe, but little else.

we seemed a worse team without him in it for someone whose supposedly fat and slow etc. when we needed someone to pinch a goal in tight affairs he was the man. this is a massive risk if you ask me and it could back fire badly.

smells like the fat ****er upstairs is getting shot of the player power
