Guuill...Gaulliem.....Gualiem.....Sod it, the Spanish geezer on Sky seems to thin the Mata deal ispretty much on the cars. He put forward an interesting observation on the deal in that we have already played the Chavs twice this season and by selling mata to us now, Maureen is thinking that we could dent the chances of City and Arsenal. Intersting take.
It seems to me that bringing in Mata is a good way to push Rooney into leaving. Is that in the best interests of the club? All these reports leave me with the impression that Rooney has already told Moyes that he intends to leave in summer. Why else would we want another no.10? The next 9 days will reveal the answer to this saga - and set the scene for whether a top 4 finish is realistic or not.
Mata and Rooney don't play in the same position. I have no idea why people keep suggesting they do, Rooney is a centre forward.
True but with RVP the main centre forward I guess people then assume Rooney is the number 10 at United. If RVP starts that could leave you with Kagawa, Mata, Rooney, Janujaz (sic?) and even Fellaini wanting that role off the striker. Something will have to give.
Well, Fellaini will for a start. His position will have to be at centre mid or not at all. Rooney has previously played off the left of a front triangle before and is more than capable of doing so again. Added to the fact RVP is injury prone again he will get plenty games as centre forward. If he doesn't like playing off the left, and it wasn't an issue when he did it with Ronaldo, then he will no doubt look to leave, which seems like a good possibility anyway. Otherwise it's all about building a squad, not a closed shop first eleven.
I note that the Telegraph reports that Atlético Madrid have re-emerged as candidates to sign Mata and are prepared to offer United manager David Moyes first option on Diego Costa and Brazilian full-back Filipe LuÃs if he withdraws from the race for Mata. Will Mata be able to choose between Madrid and Manchester I wonder, or will £40M prevail?
United v A. Madrid transfer is only ever going to end one way. United. The best spanish players only return to spain for 2 clubs, the rest are entirely irrelevant. They simply dont count. You start a career there and you move if you are good enough. A. Madrid will be back to being **** in a year
All assuming of course that Chelsea will sell to United if they have other options. Chelsea have also loaned Courtois to A Madrid for 3 years in a row which suggests a good relationship between the clubs.
I would tend to agree, however they aren't doing too shabby this season. Every chance of winning it, especially if they bought Mata.
Everyone knows its a one off. Their team will be dismantled in the summer. Be great if they won La Liga though.
