  3. Its seems not bad business, due to Nolan Attributes

    Calm down, deary me.

On topic: Nolan going as a player is not the end of the world I don't think; our new signings should easily replace him and then some. But as a captain it is a big deal; it's well known how much the team respects him with several having said he's a great guy and an obvious leader. With Hughton gone it was left to him, Barton and Smith to keep the spirit up and if he goes I'd be pretty nervous about that disintegrating.

It's not the end of the world losing Nolan as far as I'm concerned, other than his goals, popularity, hatrick against the unwashed, fantastic leadership qualities and undoubted fighting spirit.

What did he ever do for us?

Seriously, if we can get decent money for him I think it's a case of saying " thanks very much for everything " and moving on. I don't think his goal return would have been anywhere near this coming season and given who we are linked with, have already signed and have got coming back from injury I honestly don't think we'll miss him that much.

    Onwards and upwards I say.

Wonder who club captain will be now? With Kev leaving and Joey on his last year makes you wonder. He did say he'd leave when we surpass him ability wise though so maybe we're moving forward faster than he expected? He's not going to be getting regular games next season so it makes sense for him to go for first team football.

£5/6 million and Demba Ba coimng up this way would probably be ok....like many saying, we seem to have/targetting alot of midfielders who wont be happy if they are not playing regularly.
If he is happy to go back down to championship, and wasnt happy that we were not extending his contract (even though it still had 2 years left on it) and he is happy to ream up with his old marra Big Sam then let him go now and take the cash.

How much money is 12 goals from midfield , uniting the dressing room and retaining a good team spirit and being the best captain we've had since Shearer , worth?

Think it's worth a little bit more than 5m...

    ****'s sake.

  14. If Steven Taylor shows some consistancy, he could be our captain, but if Barton stays, i'd like him to be captain.

This sort of reads as a sarcastic joke the further into the sentence it gets <laugh>. I agree though, I think if we get the midfield replacements we're after then in terms of on the field play we should be fine covering his position. It's just his great leadership & integral part of the team spirit I'm worried about losing.
