Toby Alderweireld wants to leave Atletico as he's not getting enough game time! That's what you get sometimes Mr Toby when you take one big step instead of 2 small ones. Supposedly available on loan.
I think we decided the limit was just domestic loans, international loans are actually short term transfers. So we could bring in another domestic loan and more international ones, not that I'd want to have many.
Alderweireld would be an excellent addition and a loan move might suit all parties? It would allow him to get game time for the remainder of the season and allow us to bring in a quality CB for the rest of the season. It alsos gives Alderweireld a taste of the premier league and some time with us at a club. It could then be reviewed at the end of the season and made into a permanent deal if all parties are happy. I expect him signed before the end of the day.
He can only HAVE a move back to Ajax, he's already played for two clubs this season, the maximum allowed by FIFA in a season!
These guys reckon Ciani is on his way! http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/italian-claims-that-norwich-city-have-tied-up-defensive-signing-f
I think a player can be 'registered' for more than two different clubs in one season, but can only PLAY for a maximum of two different clubs in one season.
But he's already made appearances in the Eredivisie and La Liga, so it'd have to be back to Ajax. No point registering him at a third club that can't play him. Shame.
saw that on sky, sounds like they have plucked some clubs out of the water because his deal is running out. To be fair, from what i have read he has played very well this season.
It's really tricky buying central defenders in the January transfer window, especially foreign speaking ones. That position is the one that relies on solid communication between your central defensive partner and GK. Even if it unspoken you have to know what the other is going to do. It can take a fair while to establish this link when new players are coming in. It's the same all over the pitch really to a degree but if a midfielder or attacker looses the ball, 9 out of 10 times the error will not lead to a goal. If the CB leaves the ball for his GK or other defensive partner to clean up and they are not on the same wave length the mistakes do lead to goals being conceded. Having said that though, if we need one then what can you do? It's not ideal.
Well, they'll both speak French anyway, yes. EDIT: He was born in France and has Guadeloupean heritage.
And then there's always the risk that your CBs might get in a fight in training and the police are needed to break it up, eh?
Ciani has had a lot of clubs in his time. At £2.0m he seems a good acquisition - we are unlikely to shell out anymore so seems as good as it gets. Really can't see why Becchio is still at CR - he has played very little since arriving and he could serve a Championship club very well (other than Ipswich!). He must be so frustrated.
I personally think Becchio will start moving ahead of Elmander now. With Hooper and RvW playing together upfront I think Hughton would rather have the options of a big man and more midfielders rather than the combination of the 2 in Elmander. Was he injured this weekend or just not involved?
I suspect he tweaked something in training so Becchio was brought in. I still rate Elmander much higher for his role as support striker.
