Is it just me or is everyone really relieved they don't have to support Chelsea? There's just absolutely nothing to their club worth celebrating. Good players go there to flop. Good managers go there to be sacked. No history. No characters. Just a huge pile of garbage covered in a thin film of oil that makes everything feel plastic. I try to imagine if I woke up as a Chelsea fan what I could possibly look forward to in life. All I can come up with is that I might see a nice piece of skill from Hazard. And even Hazard is classless enough to fight with a ballboy. The rest of the club is just suicide-inducingly vile.
I do feel sorry for genuine Chelsea fans who've supported their club since they were nowhere. Now they have to be associated with a load of dim plastics who've attached themselves to a club because of success bought by a dodgy Russian.
This thread is a case in point. But you're right, you and your brethren are not remotely getting wound up and find this all very funny.
Does someone not know the difference between 'history' and 'trophies won'? You from Kent by any chance?
Just stating a fact mate, I thought you lot liked 'facts'. Jose certainly caught a lot of fish this time, you really do all hang on his every word.
You take things far to seriously, we(including you)are just a few people wasting a bit of time and having a buzz on the forum, but you resorted to type with your "outraged by everything" remark and made Maureen's comments pale into insignificance.
Asking a Liverpool fan about history History is about significant events in the past. In terms of a football club, which at the level we're talking about, exists to win trophies, I think it's safe to say that a clubs' history, while it includes it's great players/managers, revolves around trophies won. Unless you're Chelsea and then you can talk about those stand out events like how the standard of team in the second division changed from the 60's to the 70's and then the 80's. Or how the headhunters dragged the clubs' name through the mud. What are your best historical moments then?
I'm not taking it seriously at all. My initial post was laughing at how over the top the reaction to Jose's comments was with this thread. Probably wouldn't have even registered if it was practically any other manager but some Liverpool fans (and Matth) really have a hard on for Jose.
personally what's written in a history book means very little to me. I was born as a Chelsea fan in the 80's and started attending matches regularly early 90's. Since that point we've probably been second only to United in trophies won. So by your standard, Chelsea have been the 2nd biggest club in England in my match going life time. I'll take that. It's all well and good having great records but what does it really matter if you've never experienced them? I've actually witnessed Terry lifting the P.L title in person. How many Liverpool fans (especially gob ****e internet warriors) can say they've seen a Liverpool captain do the same? Believe me, it's much better than reading about it or watching it on VHS. The fact you think that a club is solely defined by its trophy cabinet is ignorant and says more about you than the other clubs in question. I think the collective noun is 'glory hunter'.
Nice that you suitably boil it down to how long "You" have been a supporter. I have been since 78 and seen Liverpool lift plenty more than you've seen Chelsea lift in terms of silver wear. You can rephrase it any way you want but in truth you have only just come out of Preston North End's shadow in the last 10 years You are basically saying since RA took over Chelsea have been the 2nd best team in the PL. Since £1bn+ has been invested in players you are 2nd best team in the last 10 years.
Well let's see now - Liverpool were in the 2nd div when I started supporting them so glory hunter - nah! I first watched them lift the league trophy in 1973 - [I didn't personally see the 2 previous title trophies] The next one I saw them lift was in 1976 ... then 1977 ... then 1979 ... then 1980 ... 1982...1983....1984 ... 1986 .... Are you getting the picture? I won't list the Euro trophies but books could be written of memories going to games. You are experiencing what I experienced as a fan from the 60's - stream of success - but your young age means you've not had the other side of being a fan - the not so good days so excuse me if I take our club's real history over your clubs new-age Sky fanship.
bent owner and bent club, chelsea may have a successful team but the club itself will never be a success.
Yeah, good point I was wondering if Terry actually played in the game when 100 years history saw him lift the trophy or was he sitting in the stands with his kit on under his coat!
