Just shows that posters don't read back through long threads. There's a case for limiting them to 500 messages.

I posted an Anelka article about his quenelle gesture only a single page back, and I apologised because I thought I was probably late with the news.

    I'll post it again: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25810659

I'm thinking probably enough about Anelka now? This news is days old and people clearly don't really care.

I'm sure I'm not the only one. A player who did something which may be considered racist by some people and he may or may not have realised it was racist. Most people don't seem to have actually heard of the gesture before this. He's a stupid man. Lots of stupid men are racist. Same old tedious story we've all heard before.

I was about to edit my message and explain why I think it is possible you are right. Clearly, it has been something between a dull thud and a headline. However, ignorance of the public doesn't make the gesture any less of an issue. The general public are notoriously slow when it comes to getting the point, unless it is staring them in the face. And history doesn't seem to have much importance anymore as we increasingly live in the moment.

Zoopla appreciate the gesture enough, even if the general public don't. By that I don't mean they are appalled by it, but that they don't want to be associated with anything that might hurt them. Agreed, Anelka is a stupid man.

I was talking to my dad about this on Saturday while we were huddled around his antiquated television (he has BT Sport). He said "Anelka has always been a plonker. Now, he is a slow plonker".

He's not wrong either. The other thing about Anelka is that one gets the feeling that he's been around for donkey's years. In that, I mean longer than almost any other players' careers. Almost up there with Methuselah himself, Ryan Giggs.

Well, I get the feeling anyway.

I think we're all aware that Sherlock actors Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch are in absolutely everything, apart from their roles as Watson and Holmes. As far as I'm aware, Freeman goes back to the The Office, and far as I'm concerned, Cumberbatch goes back to, To The Ends Of The Earth one of my favourite stories involving him in a role.

But I find I am totally and utterly wrong. Cumberbatch has been doing something akin to time-travel. Just look at the evidence:

    Did you forget your verifocals?

I didn't know that Dejan Lovren used to be in the American punk band Black Flag.

Don't know them. As to Cumberbatch, I guess face recognition isn't your strong point..? ;)

I haven't been well today, so am keeping my fingers crossed I will be alright for the op tomorrow. Don't want to cancel (as I've waited months), but can't travel if I feel like this. :(
