I think it's fair to say Ron's approach to F1 indeed any enterprise he undertakes not much gets overlooked, indeed his attention to detail is nothing short of miraculous almost verging on the impossible, the amount of energy and prolonged enthusiasm required is staggering. I have worked alongside similar types during my career and they can be so exhausting to work with, I'm afraid I have a more cavalier approach and think more on my feet, which is on occasion slightly more risky, but hey it worked for me and still does. However I cant wait for 2015 and the Honda tie up with McLaren now that Ron,s back, Hammy driving a McLaren again, any takers.
You always got the impression that McLaren were a lot more laid back under Whitmarsh, which may mean they took their eye off the ball. I would hate to work under Dennis, as I hate being micro-managed and would find the way he goes about running the business to be suffocating. As control freaks go, he has to be up there with the best (or worst depending on your view)
Yea, that's exactly the problem, his style can sometimes stifle new thinking, possibly that's why Newey left. Just imagine if Newey had not left McLaren, now wouldn't that be a story.
No way will Lewis return, he has moved on and feels 110% he made the right decision. He has grown up and we may yet see a better Lewis for it. I predict he will mature into a excellent all round driver in the middle of his career rather than someone who just knew he was fast, provided he remains focused and doesn't lose his way again. It will be interesting to see how he will respond with discipline and self motivation in the absence of Ross, this will be the test of his maturity that I hope he has attained.
Vettel would probably suit the McLaren/Ron mindset pretty well I would of thought, both are OCD in detail to medical levels.
Why does a shiver run through my body at the mention of his name? I can understand why Whitmarsh would have to be 'out' after what has happened but the idea that Sam is a better asset to the team than Martin just feels wrong in my head.
Cheers for that, I now have hypothermia. But next time you see him, look into his eyes; I dare you! I'll be surprised if you can see anything but trouble.
Could Dennis name himself as team principal? Ciaron Pilbeam has just joined McLaren from Lotus. Lots changing at McLaren, poaching Prodromou from Red Bull, Magnussen being promoted, Honda replacing Mercedes and now Dennis getting back involved. It's going to be a real turbulent year for them I think, might've been a good time for Button to retire really.
