But Lallana, ostensibly the right-winger, cuts inside and Davis is given licence to push forward and fill that space. If anyone can tell the difference between 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 as they are usually played they've got a better eye than me!

    Ramirez.jpg

Ramirez just tweeted this picture, saying that he appreciates the support at this time. Does look nasty though, but doesn't look as if it could be season ending which is great news.

Weird foot support. We'd just get an Elastoplast on the NHS. :)

Love rice, but still prefer Elastoplast or bandages. Each to their own.

I think his problem is that he's a bit anonymous. I got panned for using that word about him once before but what I mean by it is that he just gets on with the job and does it well but without any flamboyance. It reminds me a little of Jack Cork in the Championship. Played brilliantly yet people seemed capable of not knowing he was on the pitch. He's terrific but normally it's as though he's camouflaged - it's easy to overlook his good work.

I honestly do rate him, but we've got 4 good CMs fighting over three places. Wanyama offers something different, Cork's on good form and Schneiderlin's our star midfielder.

Yes, probably a good word, though it's perhaps a sort of invisibility that I've noticed about some players.

Lallana; you know he has the ball because he sort of announces it to the world. Lovren; every time he either has it or is trying to get it you know that he's doing it.

Danny Butterfield had invisibility in spades. No flamboyance but a good, solid job (at the level we were at at the time).

The invisible ones are the ones you're surprised to hear opposition fans mention after the game in the pub..."who was that bloke playing such-and-such a position? Wish we had him" and the blindness lifts and you think "Oh yeah, he had a good game now I think on".

I'll stop now because I know I'm labouring the point.

Steve Davis definitely qualifies as one of these so called invisible players

Keep labouring it. What is really good, and may be forgotten is that modern football is not about the best team (in this case the best three CM). We have 5 very good players in this position and I like that a lot.

Simon Peach says both Gastón Ramirez and Dejan Lovren have suffered ankle ligament injuries.

I still can't get over the misfortune of them both happening within about 30 seconds of each other.
