Saw this the other day, I know its been done to death before.
Apparently Woody has been given to the end of the month to decide on a pay as you play contract. Thoughts?:undecided:

We need to make the most of our 25 man squad, so I'd prefer it if we moved on, especially when we already have one centre-half with severe fitness issues.

seems fair enough....we need to have players that are availiable on the majority..and woodgate and to a lesser extent King is not availiable often enough and we cant let loyalties get in the way of what is good for the team...and i think when Kaboul plays week in week out he just gets better and better so i want to see him in the team

I think the club has been very lenient so far, most other clubs would have said thanks for everything good luck with the rest of your life.

If he has any love for Tottenham Hotspur he would turn down the offer now so that we can keep/get in a player that would justify a place in our 25.
Silly Harry for offering him a place when he plays one and breaks down for 20. We know there's only one person deserving and that's our academy graduate and one team man aka our captain Ledley!

Reinforcing that point- its been reported today that its likely that Caulker will go on loan to Swansea or Norwich. So HE is definitely still in Harrys thoughts for the future.
That said it should help make up Woodys mind quickly.

why do you expect him to have love for spurs? @grovespur

hes a footballer...hes no ledley....having said that..if ledley had a good pair of knees do u think he would have stuck around at spurs all his career? he only stayed because nnobody else would entertain him due to this injury of his...but this is rhetoric i love ledley!...i know for a fact the big fish would have wanted him!

not bashing ledley just being realistic about the word fotballers and loyalty in the same sentence

Woodgate should show some loyalty to Spurs for having paid his wages for the past 2 years for a grand total of 4 games, DM.
He doesn't have to love the club to appreciate what he's already been given.

You have made two very valid points but does this not make you question Harry's judgment in wanting to keep two defenders who both when games are added together cannot complete half a season. Ledley can stay and coach the kids and work his way up through the club like Scholes is at utdltd.

Tbh - Woody's another with no pace, great experience but we have Gallas and King for that, Bassong should be ahead of him now imo.

On the subject of CB's did anyone else see Kaboul supposedly wanting out to Marseille? not seen it all over the place, so hopefully its just paper trash.

i read it in the Sun online just now notsosmart...it probably went something like

journo: would you ever like to return to france and play for one of the big boys like marseille?

    Kaboul: yeh maybe

and grovespur ther are alot of these strange decisions i think Harry makes that leave me open to questioning him when it comes to one on one dealing with players..

i think we should keep ledley..he desreves that...lets put it another way..he gave his knees for spurs..so i would like to see him at the club

woody was class but he is a liability...but then again harry wants to sign joe cole who is a croxk so for me i think harry is not the full packet of crisps sometimes<ok>

Do I question the wisdom of trying to keep King and Woodgate in the squad?
    Yes.
I think that we should let Woodgate go and move King onto the coaching staff, as you've suggested, if that's what he would want.
If not, then he should be allowed to move on, too.

King and Woodgate are both excellent centre-halves when fit, the best that we have.
    They're very rarely available, though.
Each uses a space in our 25 man squad, takes up a sizeable chunk of our wage bill and disrupts both the planning and utilisation of our defence, as a whole.

Emotion suggests that we should keep them, but logic dictates that we should cut our losses and move on.

I should have thought that Woodgate would be grateful that Harry is willing to take a chance on him. If he wants to continue to play at the top level, it's the only offer he's likely to get.

If he was the only one with long term injury problems then I would want him to stay but unfortunately we can only have 1 of either King or Woodgate and obviously King is gonna get the nod there.

Whatever happens he will always be welcome at the Lane because of this
