Us a little nearer the equator haven't had any snow, sadly. Doesn't look like we'll be getting any anytime soon either, sadly. I decided when the draw was made if it was televised if just watch on the box but if not I'd go. Not got tickets yet but in two minds now, it's a bit of a way to watch the 2nd string in a game with drab written all over it but I've been looking forward to the browny banter.
Looking forward to seeing it live on TV here. Not so sure it'll be a drab game though. Southend are on a good run of form under Browny while we have a good chance to go through to the Fifth Round and could put out a pretty strong team . Even with some reserves we should win but it could be an interesting contest.
Our 2nd string is pretty much the team that won the championship last season, if not a little stronger. But with them being L2 Brucey will likely give a game to some of the children, they're likely to park the bus, and the state of their pitch is far beyond dismal. My mate has a farm and there's more grass in his pig sty. I think the banter is the only pull this game has, but if not many make the trip even that will be ****e. Anyone know how many stubs we've flogged?
Not live here in Toronto, but game on SNWLH (Rogers 370) at 2:30 pm after the Sunlan vs Kidderminster (10a.m. - LIVE), Stevenage vs Everton (noon Toronto time) matches. Always get it live on TigersPlayer & suffer Burnsey & Swanny !
Hope your reception on Tiger Player in Canada was better than mine in the UK,NORTH WEST. The Norwich game broadcast also featured another game at the same time, this was reported to Burnsy who mentioned it and it was sorted out.
It was the same here - the Scunny game playing at the same time...lasted about 15 minutes. First time it's ever happened to my mind.
I don't understand why people think a second string is a bad thing. I look forward to seeing the likes of Fryatt and Quinn play who have otherwise had very little pitch time. I don't think Southend will park the bus at all. They're at home and dooing well in the league, they'll know we're playing a second string and will fancy their chances. I reckon it'll be a much more open game than when we've played the likes of Palace at home in a league game and they really did park the bus. I think this is one of the better away games for me. You won't get any half and half scarves, no applauding the opposition as they take a corner or the sit down and shut up brigade. Terrace banter will be of a high standard and CTID will be belted out unanimously. I'd love to go to this one.
It may well be our 'second string' that plays but don't forget Southend are in a promotion race and have a game on Tuesday night as well. Browny may well play some if his 'second string' too......
Southend will be at their full strength and trying to get a result. They're in dire need of cash, and as each advance through the rounds promises prize money on top of a good share of the ticket sales, they'll be doing everything they can. Specially with it being round 5 and advancement to round six offers a decent probability of an away tie at a big team at a big ground and a big payday for them. Like you I enjoy seeing the fringe players PLT, but the problem with 2nd string sides is they're not getting regular game time together as a unit so generally tend to play all out of sorts. I don't think it will be an exciting game at all either, for a start the pitch is utterly atrocious which will deny any form of attractive attacking football. For another I'm sure Browny will set his lads up to stifle us, frustrate us and stop us from playing whatever kind of dominant football we can on a pitch like that. I'd go as far as to say they may aswell stick a net up on the half way line as the ball will probably just ping forwards and backwards at aircraft altitude for 90 minutes. Finally, a draw would be a very good result for them as a replay guatentees more cash in the coffers and would most likely be televised.
