His wife fell ill. He's a Totton boy, so has moved back down south. This job is pretty ideal for him, I would have thought...
Sky just reported that Williams is the only candidate to have extensive talks with Katharina. They say he is very keen to become the new Chief Executive and we should hear something by Friday.
Sounds promising. Hope it's him, sounds like a very good guy. I'm just so glad that KL is making these moves and statements.
Blackmore confirming what a few thought at the time. Katharina not interested in selling when she came to Southampton. Simply wanted a board to make the big decisions, and a board with which she could be privy to the information. Cortese refused, so she said he could go. He says the lack of interaction with fans was dictated by Cortese. Katharina and the new chairman, likely Williams, more likely to be open and more transparent with the fans. Blackmore still believes Williams is going to be appointed sooner rather than later, he expects by the end of the week.
A board is a slower decision making process and you could argue that this was one of Cortese's strengths because he was making changes before others saw they were needed(especially at managerial level). Still a good first week in the new role for Katharina. All those fears which came from the resignation has been nipped in the bud and it looks like we will be appointing a very capable replacement. That X Factor of Cortese which was his drive and ambition will be the hardest thing to replace and that can only be demonstrated over time and with actions. 1st job has to be to get Pochettino on board with an extension to his contract.
Wonder if we'd still have Adkins in charge had we been under a board.... Anyhow, seems a reasonable solution. Let's see.
On that note, I wonder if we'd have Boruc. Hopefully Reed was instrumental in that overruling of Adkins and we can count on similar action in future should it ever become necessary.
Being suggested this guy may be coming to Saints, as the Olympic coach alluded to earlier. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Krueger
Do you know in what role DTLW? His coaching record on wikipedia really doesn't inspire much confidence, and we've already done the non-football coach in a DoF role with Clive Woodward previously; which also didn't work out too well.
So he is the Krueger staying at the Winchester hotel. Hope Krueger doesn't prove to be a nightmare or a bit Woodward. Other than writing a motivational book, not much clues as to what a clear ice hockey man could offer us
Krueger? Sounds good to me. With Cortese in charge people woke up to a horse's head. This guy will get them in their dreams.
Probably see Saints players fall over a lot and thought they needed coaching on how to stay upright. If true, he must be known to KL in some capacity...otherwise it is a bit random. Whilst she may not be as ignorant about football as people say, I can't see Katharina having a bee in her bonnet and coming up with outlandish ideas on training (a la Lowe and Woodward). Surely someone with the same name that someone has Googled.
