Just saw this and was thinking, if it is a straight choice between the two of us which way would he jump? West Ham in the bottom three and in danger of losing their manager or us lot, top two with established name in Redknapp? Very decent signing IMO. Get the feeling we'll lose out on this one though.http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/01/20/qpr-v-west-ham-for-belfodil/

Don't like the sound of the ownership issues sounds complicated.

After the match on Saturday I overheard Phil Beard saying no further progress had been made.

10 days left in the window and no real signs of additions in the needed departments. Maybe they are learning to play their cards close to their chests though. I felt Bond's comments about us being vunerable should anything happen to Charlie might have been aimed at board level. Obviously most business is done nearer the deadline but we really don't want to be scrapping at that stage.

At least we didn't go for Karim Benzema, perhaps him & Ribery led our poor young Loic astray?

Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema on trial over prostitute

The trial of French footballers Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema, charged with having sex with an underage prostitute, has begun in Paris.

Bayern Munich winger Mr Ribery, 30, and Real Madrid striker Mr Benzema, 26, deny knowingly paying for sex with Zahia Dehar while she was under 18.

They each face up to three years in prison and fines of up to 45,000 euros ($55,000).

Since the scandal broke, Zahia Dehar has become fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld's muse

Too bad we only have Joey Barton as our muse?

Pedullà: “Parma and Inter have clarified the situation, West Ham and QPR are chasing Belfodil”

    belfodil

A crucial time for Ishak Belfodil’s future. From his website, Alfredo Pedullà gives us the latest updates about the French-Algerian striker:

“Parma have in recent days been annoyed by the fact that Inter already had agreed with West Ham without consultation with the team from Emilia-Romagna. But now the track is back on, Parma have clarified the situation with Erick Thohir’s club and together, there will be found a new, temporary, accommodation for Ishak. The Hammers are thus back in the race, but also keep an eye on QPR, another team from the English capitol that don’t appreciate the player any less. The team is coached by Redknapp but are playing in a lower division, even if they have a good chance to immediately return to the Premier League. Belfodil is evaluating his options and will then decide.”

Allardyce blames Everton-bound Lacina Traore’s agent for West Ham snub

Manager Sam Allardyce insists no-one at West Ham is to blame for the signing of Lacina Traore slipping through their grasp.

The Monaco forward looks increasingly likely to make a loan switch to Everton, who are challenging for a place in the Champions League next season, with Toffees boss Roberto Martinez revealing a deal has been agreed to sign the 23-year-old.

Traore only moved to his French Ligue 1 club at the start of the transfer window but Monaco are prepared to let him go elsewhere temporarily to gain further first-team experience.

Lowly West Ham appeared his likely destination after strong rumours were confirmed when the Ivory Coast international had a work permit hearing ahead of concluding a deal.

Everton’s interest has taken West Ham by surprise, but Allardyce does not feel the Hammers missed out due to dragging their heels.

“To apportion blame at the end can end up in all shapes and forms,” he said.

“All I’m saying is that we could have [done] no more than we did by trying to secure a player of this size, quality and talent. In the end we had a long process of going as far as the work permit.

“It wasn’t Monaco and it wasn’t us, it was all down to the player’s agent. That is who he listened to. That is what happens in today’s modern-day game.”

Allardyce has only been able to add Wolves defender Roger Johnson to his ranks so far this month as he looks to bring in new recruits to freshen his squad and keep West Ham in the Barclays Premier League.

Everton defender Johnny Heitinga turned down a move to Upton Park after Allardyce thought a deal had been concluded following a meeting, with the Hammers boss aware he is up against the might of other Premier League clubs as he attempts to bolster his team.

Allardyce said: “In this particular time you are fighting with everybody else, you are fighting with lots of football clubs to do deals as quick as you can and as best as you can.”

A deal for Inter Milan forward Ishak Belfodil never got off the ground but, with club-record signing Andy Carroll making his way back to first-team fitness and a new contract in place for Carlton Cole, Allardyce at least has more attacking options than earlier in the season when the Hammers’ profligacy in front of goal was a major factor in them slipping down the table.

I wonder if there is anything in this?
