I agree Dragon. We need to strengthen in this window, hopefully within the next 7-10 days before the next PL game. Not doing so would be madness. I still think the current team can take 7-9 points from the next 4 games, but any more injuries, without cover, and we are up the creek
Yes, that's a good point Breezy. Any of the bottom 11 could end up in 10th place or 20th place. But I think that's the whole point. All 11 are in a relegation battle. Yes, at least one of them will finish top half of table, but that doesn't mean they're not in a relegation battle now. I think too many treat our matches like fantasy football. It's like we're bound to win just because we're playing teams near the bottom. I bet the others are thinking the same and looking forward to their "easy" games against us. Too many are relying on "we're a better team than most". That doesn't count for anything unless we can win. But I'm not saying we'll definitely go down. In fact I think we'll manage to stay up. But we have to acknowledge that things are very wrong and that it's very possible for us to go down.
And i get slated off for saying it how it is Laudrup have been poor from day one and if anyone thinks he can turn things around now after trying for a year then they are in cuckoo land...this is the reality below... 1 Manchester City (2) 8 7 1 0 23 11 12 2.87 1.37 2.75 22 WwwWWwWd 2 Chelsea (3) 8 6 1 1 15 6 9 1.87 0.75 2.37 19 WwwWWdWl 3 Tottenham Hotspur (5) 8 6 1 1 16 11 5 2.00 1.37 2.37 19 wWwWDwLw 4 Everton (6) 8 5 2 1 13 6 7 1.62 0.75 2.12 17 WdWLwWdw 5 Arsenal (1) 8 5 2 1 14 9 5 1.75 1.12 2.12 17 WwWwwDlD 6 Liverpool (4) 8 5 1 2 23 11 12 2.87 1.37 2.00 16 DwWllWwW 7 Manchester United (7) 8 5 0 3 14 9 5 1.75 1.12 1.87 15 lWLwwWwL 8 Newcastle United (8) 8 4 1 3 13 7 6 1.62 0.87 1.62 13 wLlLWwDw 9 Sunderland (19) 8 2 4 2 10 8 2 1.25 1.00 1.25 10 DwLdwDdL 10 Crystal Palace (16) 8 3 1 4 6 9 -3 0.75 1.12 1.25 10 WlDlwLlW 11 Southampton (9) 8 2 3 3 11 12 -1 1.37 1.50 1.12 9 dWLlwLdD 12 Norwich City (12) 8 2 3 3 6 7 -1 0.75 0.87 1.12 9 WldLLdDw 13 Fulham (17) 8 3 0 5 10 22 -12 1.25 2.75 1.12 9 lLWlwLlW 14 Stoke City (13) 8 2 2 4 10 18 -8 1.25 2.25 1.00 8 lLDllWdW 15 Hull City (11) 8 1 3 4 10 10 0 1.25 1.25 0.75 6 lLlWLdDd 16 West Bromwich Albion (14) 8 1 3 4 8 12 -4 1.00 1.50 0.75 6 lWddDlLL 17 Aston Villa (10) 8 1 2 5 6 13 -7 0.75 1.62 0.62 5 dLwDLlLl 18 West Ham United (18) 8 1 2 5 10 18 -8 1.25 2.25 0.62 5 LwlDLlDl 19 Cardiff City (20) 8 1 1 6 6 18 -12 0.75 2.25 0.50 4 lLlDLlWl 20 Swansea City (15) 8 0 3 5 7 14 -7 0.87 1.75 0.37 3 LlLdlLdD So don't come on here and make fools of yourselves and tell me that Laudrup is the best manager we have ever had. he is the bloody worst...
Laudrup was quite adamant that he didn't want too many players' on the books. Two for each position,I think, was his aim. That decision now seems to have backfired somewhat when you take injuries into account. It's always a lottery when it comes to squad size. No injuries = no problems, and you look as if you knew what you were doing. A glut of injuries, however, can have the opposite effect.
According to BBC "Jonathan de Guzman, Nathan Dyer, Michu and goalkeeper Michel Vorm could be available for Saturday's FA Cup fourth-round tie with Birmingham.". http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25804180.
"I think many are still in denial that we are in a relegation battle". I think you are spot on there plastic. Some commonsense at last.
Glad you pasted that up Dai, as I was going to come to our form, which has dropped off a cliff, and we are now propping up the form table, clearly those covering our injuries are not good enough, and come summer there has to be a clear out!............ Form Table: http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/form-guide.html
Dai's table clearly indicates why many are now mentioning Swans' and the r word in the same sentence. This thread is proving to be a good one,and I hope it remains well mannered. I am off to Amsterdam now,so will take my leave of you. Just remember this, everyone has an opinion, and even though it may be diametrically opposed to yours, it is no less valid, and should be heard.
If anyone who has watched the swans for as long as i have and there are plenty should be able to see if a manager is good or not, I had an open mind and i gave him time like he asked for as he knew nothing about Swansea and not even heard about us. he did not have a clue about British football let alone the premiership but he came with a well balanced side full of confidence and the side picked itself and they knew how to play. It was that side that won the league cup without a shadow of doubt and it was after that that laudrup started to change things, well that's fair enough he was the new manager and it was his call, so he needed more time now to see if his way worked but by the end of the season you could see us getting worse and worse and it was at that point that me and a number of others said that this is going nowhere and we should be improving not going backwards, .And here we are today playing for our premiership lives with no confidence whatsoever and a manager who don't know how to change and has as much motivation skill as someone i have never seen in football before at the vetch or the liberty in my 54 years of watching the swans.... He don't have a clue and needs to leave now before its too late to get someone in who knows what they are doing...
You keep repeating this no matter how many times people point out that you are wrong. Just a fact I'm afraid. We kicked off that season with Chico, De Guzman and Michu in the starting line up...as well as Routledge who never got a look in under Rodgers. That's more than a third of the team changed. He also lost Taylor on the opening day...he plucked Davies out. That's 5 out of 11 in the regular starting line up that were not there under Brendan. He also bought Ki and Tiendalli who played a big part in our cup victory and the league. We also played a different narrower style from the off and started to mix up the style with more direct balls. It was Laudrup's team playing Laudrup's style that won us our first ever trophy and finished mid table. You can't argue these points...they are facts. To do so makes you a WUM.
Well said Dai. I think a big part of the problem is that he was such a good footballer that most won't even contemplate that he might not also be a good manager. He's still living off his fame as a footballer. Many fans love him simply because he's a "big name". If this was an unknown manager getting the same results, he would have already been sacked. He's still here because his name is Laudrup.
terror your wrong im right on this Laudrup admitted he did not know a single player and needed time to get to know there strengths and weaknesses. it was curtis who was the team selector and he carried on where Rodgers left off... this is a fact.
Bollocks! Our starting XI and bench regularly included Chico, Tiendalli, Ben Davies, De Guzman, Ki, Michu, Routledge, Hernandez and Schecter...all Laudrup players bar Davies and Routledge who he, not Brendan, gave a chance to. You're just making things up, not very clever fella.
I know you hate me being right terror but the facts don't lie im afraid....I don't care if you are in denial or anyone else as the table and results are there for all to see...
Oh I see you make up something preposterous, like say...Laudrup had nothing to do with the success we had last season it was all Curtis, he put him in charge of the likes of Michu and Chico's careers....yes they only came for Laudrup but Laudrup had little interest in managing the Swans and put his feet up....yaddiyaddyyada WUM. WUM. WUM. Etc. And that then becomes a fact and proves your senseless argument right. Here's a question for you, or anyone else who cares to answer, define "wally"?
When people are in denial, they tend to get angry when people point out the obvious. At the moment the Swans are hopeless and that's a FACT.
