Blackburn Rovers defender Bradley Orr is set to complete a year-long loan move to Major League Soccer side Toronto.

The 31-year-old will join England striker Jermain Defoe and USA international Michael Bradley at the Canadian side.

The MLS Eastern Conference side are managed by Orr's former Blackburn team-mate Ryan Nelsen.

Orr will move on loan until December, with a view to a permanent switch.

A deal in principle has been agreed between Blackburn and Toronto with the move expected to go through imminently.

The right back, who was on loan at Blackpool this season, has been out of favour at Ewood Park this campaign.

The former Newcastle, Bristol City and QPR man, was signed by Steve Kean in 2012 as Blackburn were relegated from the Premier League.

I thought that Orr did ok for us, clearly he was overshadowed by Walker, but he didn't let us down.

With Defoe & Orr in the line-up it will be interesting to see TFC in action in March - I believe only a couple of "designated" players are allowed, so imagine Robert Earnshaw will be moving on somewhere else - he was quite effective in the early part of their season last year.

Likely based on the last season's performance the guy who brought Ryan Nelsen in lost his job, but Nelsen kept his. Toronto has a tradition of "losing" teams, be it Soccer (TFC), Football (Argonauts) Baseball (Blue Jays) or Ice Hockey (Maple Leafs), but they still have ROB FORD!

Maybe Ryan Nelson will do us a favour and come back for some of our out of favour / unfit players. Just a thought............IF the play flies via Bermuda triangle we could potentilly "lose" some of our more expensive reserves...ie SWP

Perhaps SWP could join BWP at the New York Red Bulls to form a dynamic duo?

Quite the petty crime background for BWP - perhaps Shaun's influence could help keep his younger brother under control in the Big Apple.

New York Red Bulls On 24 July 2013, Wright-Phillips joined the New York Red Bulls. Despite joining the club in the latter part of the season Wright-Phillips was a key contributor in helping New York capture its first major title the MLS Supporters' Shield.

Personal life On 9 March 2008, Wright-Phillips, along with Southampton team-mate Nathan Dyer, was accused of stealing money, mobile phones and other items from bar staff at Bar Bluu in Southsea in the early hours of 28 February 2008. CCTV footage taken at the time appeared to show a theft taking place.

On 25 March 2008, Dyer and Wright-Phillips were both arrested over the theft and were questioned at a Portsmouth police station. They were formally charged with burglary on 17 June. They appeared before Portsmouth magistrates on 8 July 2008. Dyer was convicted of burglary and sentenced to community service and made to pay compensation and costs. Wright-Phillips pleaded not guilty, and opted to be tried at Crown Court. He was due to appear before Portsmouth magistrates again on 2 September 2008. However, the case was dismissed by the District Judge following legal argument from Wright-Phillips' barrister, Rupert Bowers, that there was insufficient evidence.

A year later, he and team-mate David McGoldrick were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a Southampton supporter while on a night out. The 21-year-old fan told police that he was attacked by the two footballers in a Southampton street as he made his way home from a night out. The incident is alleged to have happened on 7 February 2009 after players went drinking in the city. On 13 March, the club announced: "After a thorough police investigation the Crown Prosecution Service has decided not to press any charges against either Bradley Wright-Phillips or David McGoldrick, and no further action will be taken against them."
