????? Tell us more. Myself and many others would be most interested to hear the full details of the circumstances in which that happened. Including, dare I say it, legal people.
I expected better from you Fez. I posted this because of the **** he gets on here and elsewhere. The bloke isnt the devil or a demon or a ****. He's doing something you and some others dont like. Its the name of a football club, theres far more important things in life than that.
It's been posted more than once elsewhere on here by PLT that Dawson received a £30k bill for his testimonial rather than the usual lump sum to be given to charity. Harper for example received around £1M for his at Newcastle. PLT was involved in the organisation of various events for the testimonial year so is better placd to comment than the rest of us on what came out of all that.
Incredible that some people can find a way to twist a great gesture that will save lives into a name change conspiracy. One is a massive surprise, seems integrity is a facade. Seriously, have a word with yourselves and say no more. Absolutely shameful.
Wind your neck in. He may fool you but not everyone is so dumb. The timing and context of this announcement is designed to make people think well of him. It's pocket money to him however generous it may seem to the rest of us and suspicions remain that the gesture is timed to aid his campaign to end Hull City.
Okay guys, I accept that the charity receiving such a sum is great; it is unlikely there is a human-being on the planet who has not been touched by the horror of cancer. Usually I would have nothing but praise for any individual or organisation that made such a donation. But you have posted on here for a reason (even though it is O/T), as it is a football board related to Mr Allam. Unfortunately this board is divided by the actions of this man; his lies, his deceit, his manipulation and his blackmail. It is very sad that what should be a noble and worthy gesture is tainted by the cynicism with which it is given. I think all companies of all sizes allow, through the advice of accountants or financial directors, a certain element of budget for giving to charities - was this a personal donation or a Allamhouse one? I think it is well recognised that he is receiving about £8.8m (interest/tax) from his loans to Hull City, so it will not stretch him in that respect. But that is his money, so good on him, doesn't have to do it. My problem is that I see it as just one more cynical and calculated move in his strategy of manipulating public opinion. Some time ago I was in conversation (on this board) where we discussed this type of action - I recall it was the on/off availability of money for players as a lever in opinion - and I said he had every right to do it, as it is his money and his strategy. What I can do is recognise the cynicism and manipulation behind it and I don't like or admire it. But I agree with others, at least people will benefit from the result; just as he will - Sir/Lord Assem Allam, perhaps.
Blampey, it's just a name, nothing more, nothing less. A name. This is a donation that will save lives and help ensure good health. You really can't compare the two. Even so, I'd rather him change the name to whatever he likes and act a **** more often if he balances it by doing things that really will make a difference to people's lives. What's the name going to do? **** all.
When it suits eh? Interesting the mods are letting you get away with your pathetic attention seeking, when if anyone else had done this leveling of trolling to a CTWD thread, we'd have a solo thread mocking us. Well I say interesting, what I meant was entirely predictable.
There are some right cynical bastards on here. Who cares if his donations have an ulterior motive? The appeal is still benefiting from his money. Am I against the name change? Yes I am. Does this affect the credit he should get for this charitable donation? No! Not one Iota. People are letting their judgement of him as a business man/chairman of our club cloud their judgement of him and his charitable actions. I guess some people will just want to muddy his name for the sake of it. Almost as if they think if they give him credit for this they are conceding to the name change.
This is a Hull City (primarily) form. Actions of our owner, understandably, are discussed in that context.
I guess those that are questioning his donation to this good cause will decline to use the scanner should they need it, if he is indeed the cad you say he is. I guess you will also stay away from North Ferriby and KR and the many other things he has donated to. If he is indeed what you say he is. Put up or shut up. Stop bitching about this. You sound like small children.
Pu it this way, it makes him seem benevolent in the eyes of the unaligned 'not bothered about name change' folk. Just at the right time, too.....
I have seen posts on this topic before, but I have never seen them described in that context before. As PLT was involved he will have no trouble in standing up his comments that appear to suggest that our owner "completely ripped off the same charity over the Andy Dawson testimonial."
I'm against the name change. I think his recent comments about doing one if he doesn't get his own way were disgraceful. I think paying for a scanner at a cancer ward is commendable. What's so difficult to understand about that?
