To be fair to Moyes he's hardly in a position to say anything else, he took the Utd job knowing the expectations and the possible implosion of Fergies team that was left as a legacy, the man is probably surprised how the reigning champs are struggling but he can only look at his tactics, training methods and getting rid of Utd's proven backroom staff as part of the problem along with the transfers fiasco last summer. He was brave enough to follow a legend so he has to be big enough to take **** for the mistakes he can't pin on the FA, officials or anyone else except him and his players and ex Everton backroom staff.
The backroom staff and training should have been changed over a long period of time, we seem to be suffering a lot of strange muscle injuries which i fear is down to the training methods.
Is right Diego but considering there were many discussions over a long period of time between Fergie and Utd and Moyes and his representatives before he was offered the job its amazing that it wasn't stipulated that the backroom staff and training methods had to be maintained, that points to the theory that Fergie was more arsed about his aura than about his legacy.
Bit of a difficult situation really, you are losing the most successful manager ever, do you tell the new man "this is your team, do what you need to make it work" or do you tell him he is a figurehead who will change nothing except players as required. I think you have to give him free reign and hope he has the sence to see what is working and what is not.
Thing is Fergie having been given the choice of successor also must have been part of the interview panel and as such had the opportunity to stipulate things that kept parity at the club and you as a man and utd supporter should be asking questions about Fergies true intentions.
I think his intentions were good, he genuinly thought of Moyes as his successor but feel he may be surprised/dissapointed at the speed of change that has occured. He may well still be proved right with his choice though.
Can't deny that Diego but if his choice goes pear shaped and the blame game starts will the press aim the blame in the correct direction?
The press always go for the easy target, that`s why managers get sacked and the same players carry on.
Fergie is out of it clean now, as far as the press is concerned anything that goes wrong at OT now is Moyes fault!
can you blame a supporter with the time and money for turning up at every game? if it was you or one of your mates you would applaud them.
The press gave avb far more stick than moyes, partly that is because most of Fleet Street is dominated by northern provincial journos. That is slowly changing though and in ten years hopefully the press will be less biased
