Mr Allam is indeed a star

    Forget about the footy stuff.

He has being donating to cancer research

The queens centre at castle HILL

The Hull university research centre he paid for

    And many other causes.

NOTHING TO DO WITHTHE NAME CHANGE
BECAUSE HE DID IT BEFORE THE NAME CHANGE IDEA AND BEFORE HE BOUGHT THE CLUB.

I think Mr Allam is great...

    Nothing to do with football.

    Well done Mr Allam .

Chances are I have benefited from his donations to castle hill a number of times

    Brilliant.

Thud is another star as well.

Come on Mr Allam let's have Dove house on the shirt or Macmillan next season

Ego is always mixed up with altruism IMO but then if the donors didn't get something out of it there'd be no donations. So everybody wins.

    Nice gesture.

I still disagree with Hull Tigers though.

    PS

If I ever got to meet Mr Allam I would give him a huge hug
And thank him for all he has done in this region.

Though I would tell him he's a twat to threaten to leave IF the FA say no to Hull Tigers
    That really pissed me off

BUT take away the football stuff he's great.

After all, he didn't have to give 1p

That research center he paid for at Hull Uni must have cost a fair few millions.

I guess we have all lost family and friends to one ol more of the terrible types of cancer that distrupts our lives; not just cancer, too. The truely terrible thing is when someone uses their abundant wealth to influence the thinking of the vulnerable to gain popularity for something worthwhile.

Don't be concerned that I will spoil your daughter, it will benefit your extended family; there, believe me, I can give a gift to your grandmother now.

Even if he was, one way, misunderstood; has anyone told him how this looks - or does he care?

It's crass; nothing less. Your gratitude is noble in intent, but questionable in it's appropriateness.

Bit off topic....the queens centre is a big positive for this area.

IF anyone ever has to have treatment in that place ALL the staff are fantastic and the nurses go the extra mile to say the least.

Hopefully no one does have to go in...

IF anyone on here does have to let me know OK.

Stay well everyone on here what ever your views on the bloody name change stuff.

He was doing all this stuff before he even took over at Hull city.

So no he doesn't do it to influence anything to do with Football.

the research centre cost £4.1 million - he paid £1.5million ( he saved 45% income tax - so it cost him £825k) - in return it was named the Allam Building - oh and he got the title Doc from the Uni as well

Great gesture. But he completely ripped off the same charity over the Andy Dawson testimonial.

He needs some good publicity at the moment, a charitable donation does the job. Rich people don't make these donations at random times any more than Hollywood A list celebrities appear on Graham Norton by coincidence two weeks before their next film comes out.

Frankly I'm not bothered though. If he wants to get some good publicity by saving people's lives then I hope he finds more ways to piss people off so he has to do it more often.

Someone earlier in the thread said something about wishing he'd do it privately. When someone like AA makes a donation, especially one of that size, the charities receiving the money are likely to want them to make it public. It helps them get their existence known by more people to have high profile people connected with them and sizeable donations being made. It would be interesting though if a charity went to the press to say they'd received an anonymous donation of £1M+ to see whether the speculation about who'd made it generated even more publicity.

EDIT: As two of us mods have posted at the same time. I've done the clean up, and I've tried to do it in a way that removes the name change issue itself without removing the questionning of why he's made the donation. The two are separate discussions.

I don't think anyone getting an early diagnoses on the scanner and having a far better chance of staying alive will give a **** about the reason it was bought.

Besides he's been doing such things for years .

    Brilliant.

    Its a posative Stuart.

And you can't turn it into a negative no matter how hard you try.

Nor can anyone what ever views you have on the football stuff.

    Simple as that.
