This is the sort of game where you don't play Gerrard. AV are a young team with a lot of legs in midfield. Lucas/Hendo/Allen work very well against a energetic opposition. Gerrard plays better against teams who sit off and allow possession [Hull, Norwich etc].
A Formation picked by BR trying to accommodate him in this new nonsense position because he hasn't got the legs for anywhere else. As predicted big gaps appear in midfield no matter which position he plays in. And there's a nothing contribution from Johnson again.2-0.
