What has Malky got to recover from in terms of disappointment IF he hasnt got the cardiff job? Who says he was approached? Who says he was interested? Who says he, GT, Dychey, JE haven't been sitting down and seriously mapping out next season whilst Bas looks after the contractors and works the budgets? Maybe maybe not but its all idle speculation so lets wait and see what concrete statements come from official sources from Villa, WFC, Birmingham, Cardiff and Uncle Tom Cobbly.
It is nice to see that the old days of friendly interclub banter are not dead. Best of luck with the search H bomb. Lets hope a neutral party can be found.
And it did ! Whodathunk it ? I don't think we are out of the woods yet though. It's going to be a long summer.
Hang on a minute, apparently Shearer has turned Cardiff down. This saga is putting us all through the ringer.
Que 24 hours of rumour and speculation. Until we are told that there has been an official approach which has been accepted we just need to chill. You would seriously like to think that everyone at the club is getting on with the business of planning for next season rather than twiddling their thumbs waiting to see what Cardiff do. Say what you want about Bassini but the rest do not seem that unprofessional. We should do the same.
Trouble is how much can Malky plan for our season if there is doubts over his future....needs another strong statement from either him or Bassini saying MM isn't going anywhere. But money talks and we'd probably take the 300k offered.
Good point. I honestly couldn't predict what I think will happen next, I'm torn between : Malky cheesed off that he hasn't been linked with the "top jobs" that became available, gets his head down and gives Watford 100% for another year and publicly commits himself. or ..... Malky has had his head turned and accepts the Cardiff job when offered. Either way I want to see some good signs that the rest of the club is pushing toward the new season with training starting soon, I haven't heard when - another sign of dithering? I hope its the former - we all know Malky has a certain stubborn streak to him.
Morning Hornets. Thanks for all the comments guys. Very much appreciated Well, late last night I was almost certain that the curtain had fallen on this particular Panto (I really should know better) only to find this morning that Act 2 has begun. Excuse the theatrical analogies but, from a Bluebirds perspective, this is becoming farcical) I don't know about you guys but lastminute.com is starting to look appealing. KTF Hornets.
Well that did not last long did it? (as the actress said to the bishop). In fact it never got started. Shearer made his predictable over-inflated demands (he wanted £1M a year salary it seems--Jones was "only" on 900K) and was told off by the owners. I wonder how this little shenanigans has affected Malky , if he is still in the frame? Cause him to change his view of the owners? This is becoming a soap opera without an end--the owners at Cardiff are not managing this process very well, to say the least. But it still remains a good career move for Malky if they do come back for him-- a reported £10m rebuilding budget for a start. Not without risks, but then no manager's job in any league is without risks is it?
If Shearer is demanding £1m a year, that is rediculous for someone with no experience... and you wonder how much the BBC are paying him for his 'expert' analysis!! Surely if you are a young, ambitious manager, you'd be happy to take a much lower wage - that sort of money could get you another player!! I suppose the more worrying thing for us is his comments abouts the boards ambitions, and if they do have that sort of transfer budget to play with. That would be very appealing to someone like Malky who could do a lot of good work with that!! If Cardiff do approach Watford and the board agree Malky can talk with them, then they MUST insist he cannot approach Watford for ANY players!
Blimey - if Jones was on £900k and I think I recall somewhere Malky being on only £130k then we will lose him if they come knocking for sure - they could triple his salary, pay £300k compensation and still have money in hand
Oh dear... Sky Sports are now reporting Cardiff have approached Watford to speak with Malky. Stick to your word Bas and refuse!!! You;d hope Malky would feel a little unwanted as well seeming they spoke to Shearer first and seemed very close in getting him!
